Acording to Metacrictic.com Gran Turismo 5 is a 84/100. In my opinion it is an easy 95/100. The menu system is wierd and the loading takes forever but all is forgiven. As you say; it's a masterpiece.
Is Killzone 3 a 70/100, a 85/100, a 100/100. I don't know. All I know is that I'm getting the game.

Resistance : Fall of Man is on my PS3 top 5 list the gen. It was so good. Hell, it was great. Amazing even! Resistance 2 was good too. Hopefully Resistance 3 will be epic. So far it looks and sounds fantastic.

What the hell are people thinking? The Ratchet & Clank series are so much fun and highly underrated.
I skipped Shift too when it was released but recently got it from the bargain bin. I don't care much for the Need For Speed series. In fact I think they are all rubbish. BUT Shift is a decent game. A very good 8/10 in my book. I will surely buy Shift 2 at some point in time too. Give Shift a try. I can easily recommend it.

I just bought Bioshock 2 from the bargain bin. The price was lowered to next to nothing. Still have not played Bioshock 1 though, which I also got cheap. So many games, so little time.
Playing it right now and OMFG, I'm SOO getting this game day one :-)
