That feature (unlocking things for avatar in-game) has already been pretty well confirmed.
There are only two spin-off titles confirmed for the Halo series, and Halo Wars is shaping up quite nicely.

Personally anything from Bungie would be nice, be it a new IP, a new Halo, or even a something to do with an older IP like Marathon (remake?) would be nice to hear, as long Microsoft doesn't can the announcment last second.
Although Halo is my favorite franchise, and I don't own a PS3, I at least have the decency of respecting the fact that it's a great console with fans just like you, with the subtle difference of what hardware their using and games they might play, even if in my personal opinion I would only play MGS4, God of War, and LBP on it.
