I think MS has had a bit of fortune on its side. They rushed their platform out to beat Sony to store shelves, which was a good strategy. The bad side was RROD and having to foot the bill to repair the systems. Luckily for them, it doesn't seem to have cost them their reputation. That initial decision allowed them to get games first, get devs more experience with the platform, and build their install base. Compound that on Sony's system which wasn't really ready, and had a harder architect...

Never been a big fan of the Getaway, heck I just started the GTA series with the latest installment. I did see footage of 8 days, and I was looking forward to it. It was so far off, that I guess it kinda softens the news bit. Who wants to lose games. However, we don't have the full story. It could be that the new guy made some bad decisions, or it could be that observed the current state of affairs and realized that the company needed to move in a new direction. Its really something we'll ...

I hated Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I, honestly, don't understand how it and the others like it got such rave reviews. The camera was offensively awful (I walk into a door, facing the screen, and am immediately being shot at by a guy across the room that I can't see?) The poor camera bleeds into the rest of the gameplay mechanics - platforming (jumping from place to place is more of a hassle) and combat (enemies you could easily take out are made more "challenging" by putting them out of ...

Battling over which game will be better is fruitless. It all depends on your tastes. Just like no one's tastebuds are the same, so it is with games. Both of these games, though they offer a guy with a gun in his hands, offer two different experiences. Outside of the obvious 1st person and third person perspective, each game has a different focus. Gears' appeal is its celebration of gore and graphical presentation. Resistance relies on scale and features. Gears' weaknesses was its story,...

Live is a service, unless I'm mistaken, that saw its foundation built on the original Xbox. From that MS, has improved upon it for the 360. The features that make Live standout are inherent in their firmware. Its the in-game features. Its why there has been outcry from PS3 users for ingame XMB. They want the functionality of offline made online. It appears that most of that will be made available this year. Other features of Live that are actually tied into the network component like movi...

I agree that Sony needs needs a stronger online component to counter Xbox Live, but that's happening. Outside of Home, the system should be moving to a feature set that should really close the games with regards to communication. When you throw Home in, you're adding a completely new feature, and looks to be going a couple steps further. With regards to game, I think that statement is a little skewed. MS is touted as being THE place to go for software, but most of that is held up by Gears,...

A console is defined by its games. The original Nintendo, the Genesis and the Super Nintendo, the Playstation, and the Playstation 2. The console that remains successful has the most games with the most variety. The N64, Dreamcast, GameCube, Turbo Grafx, and Xbox all suffered because they either focused on one genre, had no third party support, and/or were late arrivals to the market. Why did the PS2 take off, because it offered a variety of different genres. Point (1) Gamers follow the games...

I work at Bestbuy and when I looked on our RSS (inventory) system, I found a PS3 version of Final Fantasy VII. It won't show up on the bestbuy website, but it is in the inventory system. No lie. If you don't believe me, check your local bestbuy and ask an employee to do an advanced search for it. All the stores are linked nationwide, so you should find it. The release date for the game shows 2007, and the status (last time I checked) said update. This conflics with Surfer Girls PSN release, ...

I know no one's going to believe me, but if you get anyone at your Bestbuy to confirm it feel free. I work there, and if you have them look on the RSS system. You'll find a PS3 version of Final Fantasy VII. It retails for 59.99, the street date for the game is wrong however as they had it posted for november of last year. However its listed as an update. I swear to everything holy. With a price like that, it must be a Blu-ray game, otherwise if it were PSN game, why would it be in our syste...
