I'm sure we will hear much more about ff13 versus when ff13 has been released. Its basically so they ppl buy the first one that goes out the door and not wait to purchase versus (thats if it is actually better of course).

I have to agree with you.
I think another part would add up to your friends playing the game you all talk about at the time.
mgs4 for example was a big deal between me and a few of my mates. It felt like it had to be a day one purchase or i would be left out from the experience of the game itself and the social debates for the time.

I think thats the point. You play games to have fun. I don't think you or i would be happy if we get charged more to get less content.
If ppl don't look into this sort of thing then i could imagine more developers charging more for less game content. That = less fun to me.
