I played the demo a few weeks ago, and I wasn't completely sold, but Martin might be swaying me.

What a great article. Pogibaldy is right; as the market expands beyond the consumers capability to spend, it will self-regulate - which is happening with the rising popularity of budget/indie titles.

The bigger issue is the expanding DLC market. The line between consumer/publisher/developer ownership is being blurred here, and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw future legislation defining who owns what.

Good Show.

I prefer the playstyle of western games more; they offer a lot more personality customization than JRPGS. While plots have kept constant throughout the RPG era (either hemisphere) I feel like I am able to inject myself into a western RPG than an eastern.

I would rather help write the part; not follow along verbatim.

I love midnight releases. Doesn't matter if it's a movie, book, or video game. You can count me in.

Bring it to the states!!! I would love to have this as a PSP title.

I only played the PS3 version of Dante's Inferno. It seems to keep the same core mechanics; so, count me out.

I cannot wait to get my hands on Monaco, Super Meat Boy, and Joe Danger. I didn't know about Rocketbirds or Trauma, but it looks like this year's IGF is going to be a doozy! Yeah, I said Doozy. Wanna fight about it?

The power glove did have one power. It's owners were doomed to be virgins.

I shouldn't have bought one.

There are two sides to this story. Ludology and Narratology. Both sides have stances with merit. It depends on the player and developer and what their ultimate goals are.

I just hope this fixes some of the experience bugs and makes it easier to use the shotgun. Teleporting enemies are hard to hit.

The PSPGo would be much more alluring if it wasn't priced at an absurd $250. That's only fifty bucks away from a PS3, if you don't have that you might as well splurge and go the distance by then.

PSPGo = Wonderswan

Seems like it, let's hope he can bring his infinite wisdom to us and that we can absorb it like the sponges we should be. Brock Johnson '12!

Excellent interview. I really think that the downloadable market is the perfect place to be making games in the current economy. I mean, if I want to get all the games that are coming out at the end of this year...it's around 500 Yankee dollars.

While this podcast might teeter in the danger zone, there are still tons of insightful comments from each member regarding each topic.

Ask Twisted Pixel:

Based on your recent success with The Maw and 'Splosion Man, what do you guys think about the rising digital distribution market and how it pertains to independent developers and gamers?

Lol, Otacon's story is by far the funniest thing I have read in a while.

Is it really necessary to attack the writer directly? At least keep the insults about his appearance to yourself and comment on the article instead.

I was never given the pleasure to play The Curse of Monkey Island, but I have played its predecessors. These games are so full of charm and wit that it saddens me that Tim Schafer left LucasArts. I know he has brought us Psychonauts, and the upcoming Brutal Legend, but I would love to see him back in his stomping grounds. His point and click adventures are some of the best games I have ever played. Perhaps he will surprise us with a re-make or a new IP on the Wii.

@Dimly

You make an excellent point dimly! The industry is still getting it's feet wet. Developers haven't found a tried and true way to simulate real life choices because they are still experimenting. Mass Effect did a great job at creating an aggregate system, and I think the upcoming DA:O is going to be a spectacular throwback to the choices you had to make in Baldur's Gate. Personally, I don't know if the industry is ready for decisions that involve abortion or sexual favo...
