Well this I hope is a first chapter in a long running column for PC gamer. I would like to hear more about the Eve Online experience for players that dont know the back story or the infinite layers of in game choices that can make you go far in the game.

I am still on my first PS3! The 60 gig version that is backwards compatible with older PS games.
The only thing I have had to do with it is have the laser replaced since I got the yellow light of death on it. Cost me 30 dollars. After 5 or 6 years that is not bad.
My buddies that have Xbox got to keep shelling out for live time, either gold or silver ones. I knew one guy that had teams he played with and had to stop playing for 3 weeks until he got paid in...

I have been using voice communication in online gaming for a long time and it has its ups and downs.
This article highlights why in game and party group communications can be terrible at times. Personally I stick with third party servers communications via such applications as Skype, Ventrilo or Teamspeak (mainly for PC based games) and just have team mates or friends in channel and it makes it so much better.
I dont play the game but the list is funny stand alone

Modding for PC games is often much easier and better and there are more communities for modding. By modding I mean creating new maps and DLC for the gmae.
Look at the Unreal Tournament series, there are tons and tons of community maps for the PC, but also game types that are specially made. You can also create your own character models and voice packs, upload them to your server and store the source files on your pc and you have custom setup for yourself.

I have a pair of Gunnars glasses and they help for those long hours in front of the pc, either gaming or typing. Admitted my monitors dont produce much glare and I rarely get eye strain but they are extremely light and after a while they feel great. Oh, and they do take a little getting used to though
This is yet another game I never really got into and I can see tons of people have different things to say about it.
Because of all the differing opinions I guess I should check it out for myself.
Most of those games I can not comment on but the Ninja Gaiden game drove me up the wall. It got to a point where I just could not deal with the constant ordeal of having to redo parts of a round over and over cause of the annoying silly deaths.
All I can say is that I am very disappointed. I am a huge fan of the franchise and I was waiting in excitement for the reboot. I can not discuss how badly this lets me down and all the gamers out there.
I am a PC, PS3 and Xbox gamer and I would have bought this for PC, but now no one gets the pleasure of the game. I prefer stand along games to MMO's as I dont have the time to put into MMO's where as stand along games give me the freedom to do as I like on my own.
Wasn't it activision that had a massive exodus of people walk out on the game development due to compensation and other things?
I never really got into this game series but hearing about the latest installment it is still interesting.

The read was interesting as it pointed out several flaws of many games. They go into such great details over certain aspects, but then the "repeating" background characters get stagnant really fast. As someone above already pointed out they just needed to add a handful of voices with 1 or 2 extra voice actors to those background characters.

Definitely a good recap of the classic racing games that eventually lead to the current crop these days.
Interesting to see how things change
