Sure, it's working, if you think "working" means making a growing population of PC gamers dislike you for your shitty business tactics. You are not "beating" steam if people don't have a choice, what you are doing is cheating the player base and turning people against your platform.
Personally, i despise the fact Epic are trying to bring exclusive's to PC gaming. It's a crappy practice.
Epic store needs to stop with the shady tactics. Buying up games that have been funded by the public on kickstarter, and generally trying to bring "exclusives" to PC. They could also add some account security(2FA, c'mon guys its not hard!) and stop getting data leaks on the regular.
Leave exclusives on console. Or better yet, get rid of them completely. Dev's get far more profit if everyone can play their game.

Personally, i am all for exclusives being a thing of the past. So yeah, the thought of microsoft bringing halo to the playstation is a good idea, i just hope sony and nintendo jump on the bandwagon with this.

I bought this game at release on steam, loved all the souls games, finished all the souls games. However i decided to refund it after a few hours. Life being what it is nowadays i do not have the time to dedicate to a game that requires this much attention. What i didn't do was moan about it being difficult and say "i want an easy mode". I accepted that unfortunately it's not for me, and went about my day.

I would understand this point of view if it was a paid dlc, but seeing as it was completely free this just comes across as pointless moaning to me.
The money is from someone who has an advertising company, and now a 10% investment in CIG. This now effectively means that they have an "in house" advertising company that shares the goal of CIG. With 10% they will at most be observing/suggesting things at meetings and backer money does not need to go to advertising. Hopefully we will see devs start improving gameplay elements instead of just making games look nicer. Its a bit dull when every fps, 3rd person action game etc plays the same way with the same controls. The industry is definitely bogged down in that respect.

Honestly with a game as big as FF7 in terms of fanbase, this is basically saying "no we don't want to make ludicrous amounts of money, just a decent amount will do"
