I wouldnt say that a mature game is one that does or doesnt have gore or swearing, but one that explores mature concepts regardless of whether it involves those things. Death for example is a concept that can be explored either in a mature and thought-provoking fashion or a mindless beat em up fashion, but each could have gore or not and still achieve that goal.
Im not trying to say that there should never be sexualized characters, or that games shouldnt explore sexuality. But male characters, historically, have been much more diverse, and even when theyre sexualized, their sexuality isnt what defines them as a character. Female characters have typically been defined by the fact that they are female or by their sexuality. Of course there are great female characters, im not trying to make a blanket statement, i just mean the majority of the time.

Yes... but perhaps having women so often represented as sex objects alienates women from having a desire to explore video games, resulting in "Gamer's" interests being more limited.

No, no they arent. Not nearly to the same degree. Most female characters contribute nothing but being sexy. There are great female characters out there, definitely, but most of them are just eye candy. Its almost completely one sided. And dont try to tell me someone like kratos is oversexualized because hes not. Hes naked and buff to create an idealization of power and primality for men, not to sexually appeal to women, because women typically dont give a **** about that.

In the Left Behind dlc we knew Riley was going to die but i still felt that the illustration of her and ellies relationship was very well crafted, supplemental to the story and ellies character, and very emotional, despite knowing riley would die at the end beforehand.
