Gamepass is still not making money. This only works for Microsoft because of the deep pockets they have. People love Xbox right now because value wise is great ATM. At some point Microsoft is going to want to be profitable and start making back the money they spent on their big acquisitions. We will see what happens to the price of Gamepass then.
And nothing of value was lost. E3 has been going downhill for years.

Exactly. It was revealed Microsoft paid 10 million for guardians of the galaxy to be on gamepass. The game cost 80$ million to make. If Sony and Microsoft both paid 10 million and that's all the game was going to make it would look vastly different. Currently gamepass games are being subsidized with retail purchases and Sony consoles.
Sony has said all along that it won't be a gamepass competitor and would be different. So I'm not sure why you expected it to be just like gamepass.
Mass market pays the bills. And we literally know next to nothing about the game.

On the other hand Sony censoring the game probably gave them more press then they would have gotten otherwise. I had never heard of the game before this article.
I have bought a few cars and keys on rocket league, but I got the game for free on ps plus and saw it as a way to support the dev. Spend less then 20$ in total and still play the game. Only mtx I have ever bought.
@lightning I imagine it's for the inevitable future where gaming is consolidated into 3 or 4 big publishers and only offer games through a service ala gamepass.

Used copies can accrue trophies to. And how much did the game sell at 60$ on release vs 20 or 30 when it dropped down.

Used to be, but many other gaming conferences have become just as big or bigger. E3 isn't a must have.
