I dont get the space concern thing. Buy an SD card... If you're anything like me, you've downloaded a few N64 games and a ton of others, and most of them you dont play on a regular basis. Store them, delete them, and reload them on a long weekend when you have 36 hours and a desire to play through an old zelda classic.
Its not ideal, but it beats the **** out of the alternative...
Very well written review. Whether or not you agree with the mark, it gives you an excellent idea of what you're in for.
Read this opening paragraph from the 1UP preview:
Developer Retro Studios certainly took its time polishing up Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the latest first-person adventure starring Nintendo's sexy-under-all-that-armor heroine Samus Aran. This Wii follow-up to 2004's MP2: Echoes was originally supposed to launch alongside Nintendo's funky wand-controlled console last fall.
Wow. I know "Internet" "Video-Game" journalism is a far cry from the ...
"Prime 3 boasts some of the best boss battles in any videogame, period" - IGN
Maybe that 10/10 from Nintendo power wasnt so far fetched after all?
This is a VERY good preview.
I think people have a point with the backtracking. I know Metroid is all about the backtracking, but I've never enjoyed it. (I've never played a Prime game other than Hunters).
If you're going back to a planet to look for something, that can be okay, but in hunters the whole game was just "Go look for stuff" and that was it. Metroid deserves a better story than that. If they improved the story for number 3, the backtracking will feel like it is less random.
...
Pretty good. I'd give it a B. Not very biased, often too technical or not technical enough at times.
Edit: I'm no journalist, so dont take that too hard, its better than most.
"and it is a cube at its core."
*sigh*
You just had to take that potshot hey? The Wii is not a gamecube at its core. It may not have gone a route that you would have preferred, but you dont hear me come on and say that the XBox is just a lump of spare PC parts mishmashed together, which would explain why so many dont work.
I've done the math, and if you take the number of pixels in an HD picture, and compare it to a 480 image, the ratio is about the same as that of HD-DVD to DVD storage space. It is within 20% or so.
The point? The Wii is fine. Not to mention that this article doesnt even mention the Wii other than in the title.
I think I've read somewhere that they're mixing it up, some levels will be "shooty", some will be "explorey".
hrm... is it just me or do the WiiWare videos look better?
Did anyone notice:
In the one picture where she is reading up on the crawl tank, you can see her face reflecting in the visor?
I dont know if that was in the previous versions (I havnt played them, just NES and DS versions) but it is hella-cool.
Yeah it'll be nice for a game to come out for the WII and not as a re-release. I'll be pretty disappointed if this game plays exactly like every other Metroid. I know that is setting the bar pretty high, but I think its about time they changed things up a TINY bit. More outdoor environments maybe?
Yeah I'm sure people from Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver will have a great time. Yes I'm bitter, stupid Toronto, its your greenhouse gas problem, you fix it.
I'm not so sure if they're going to have connectivity with the DS, but its not a bad thing. They're making a separate FFCC game for the DS that (i'm guessing) will be using SOME of the cool features of the origional game, while leaving others for the Wii. There was a LOT of experimental stuff in that first game.
Edit: but hey, i wouldnt be upset if i was wrong.
Crystal Chronicles (The origional) was a real time combat - coop multiplayer version of the origional series. IE: It will play like zelda with magic and summons(rumour) and equipment.
Looking good.
(cheering)
Madden! Madden!
hard to say it better than that
"Our focus on the control side of things this year was to continue to refine the controls, make them easier to perform, easier to remember and provide instant feedback to the player when they succeed or fail during gameplay."
Yep, EA seems to know what they're doing this time. I'm looking forward to this game more than SSBB, FFCC, or any of that stuff.
