You've got to keep in mind the series was dying in Japan and losing interest in the west. Nintendo was able to flip over the coffee table and revive the whole action rpg genre. When I was playing my Wii U gamepad early on in the Wii U's console cycle I felt I'm going to have to replace this at some point which turned out to be true. Four years plus later I don't see Wii U gamepads in Wal Mart for a reasonable price. When I look at the Nintendo Switch's gamepad I feel the exact same way.
