Surely they have some sort of security/encryption code implemented for the PC version of the game? If so, it should be relatively trivial to enable it in the console versions, making them just as secure as the PC version. Of course, the PC version may not actually be all that secure, but they can't blame Sony for THAT.
I understand the actress was not picked up to voice Elena, but her 50 year old mother. Something tells me watching her climb up ladders won't be quite the same...
When you play games without connecting to PSN, your trophies get cached locally and synced to PSN the next time you connect. The time/date they were achieved is also transmitted to PSN, so your credit will match the time of the actual achievement. The article indicated that the trophies would get "random" timestamps, so a bunch of trophies getting synced at once using the hack will not be too much different than the current sync behavior.
HOWEVER, if the hack truly...
Actually, one thing I like about trophies or achievements is that they can add an extra dimension to games, even the good ones. I may find a weapon that I get used to and spam its use through an entire game. But when I see trophies for use of other weapons, I'm motivated to try something new and experience the game from another perspective.
If you pile a lot of sh*t together, as in a compost pile, it becomes pretty hot.
One difference here is that the US government might execute the criminals for treason if they continue in their activities. If Sony hires these guys, they are simply exposing themselves further to someone with a demonstrated history of causing trouble.
If I killed your mother and sister by circumventing whatever defenses they had about them, would you turn around and hire me to be your wife's bodyguard, thereby giving free access through her defenses?
When I read a legal brief and see grammar and punctuation issues such as:
"Without consenting to personal jurisdiction Mr. George Hotz by and through his attorney of record specially appears and respectfully submits"
"Rather, it's an attempt for Sony to send a message"
"First, it asserts personal jurisdiction over the Mr. Hotz"
"The next basis for jurisdiction put forth by Sony is even m...
I found "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" single player extremely difficult (to play for more than 5 hours - you know, because it was over by then).
That game is awesome
The printing press is evil because it can reproduce pornographic images.
Crayola crayons are evil because children could use them to draw boobies.
Even if it takes place in the same area of the world as Assassin's Creed 1, it does not have to occur at the same place in time, so could involve someone other than Altair. Some possibilities might include Old Testament Jews-conquering-the-region days, the period between 3 BC to about 100 AD, modern times, or periods significant to the non-Judeo-Christian religions.
Film can run at 24 fps and looks smoother than a monitor running a game at the same rate for a couple of reasons. One has to do with the differences in the way the images persist, and the other has to do with motion blur being an inherent part of film, which is really expensive to do with a video game image.
Note that I'm a game developer, not an expert on vision, so take my comments with a grain of salt.
I can't believe I'm arguing for HHG, but I have to point out that there IS a minor benefit to playing a game on a 240 Hz monitor in some situations...
If you play a 30 Hz game on a 60 Hz monitor, WITH VSYNC ENABLED, and a game frame takes a bit too long to process, then it will step down to 20 Hz (which divides evenly into 60). On a 240 Hz monitor, the game could step down to 24 Hz without tearing. 24 is pretty much the lowest you can go for most people and still appe...
It doesn't look like pxm knows the difference between throughput and latency. You could have a 50 Gbps connection and still not be able to play Onlive if it took 5 minutes every time your computer sent a message to the server to get a reply (for a Mars-based server, I guess).
"We are all assuming it is what it is" - hey, don't we assume that about every game in existence?
Also, using vehicle control in a driving game to prove there is no lag is a false premise.
For one thing, the mechanical systems involved in steering a car have a certain amount of "lag" that serves to hide some of the lag Kinect might have. These sources of mechanical lag include the torsion of shafts, gears that don't fit perfectly, and, perhaps the largest factor, tires that deform and slip where they contact the road. These factors are reduced as you move t...
The disk being stamped could have little to do with a release date... They could still decide to hold the release for market reasons. They could hold it for a day-one patch needed to fix/unlock half the content on the disk. They could be stamping a logo on the disks, which will be later stamped with the actual content!
Every Elder Scrolls game
Every Total War game
Every Civilization game
Many RPGs
A few levels were played on all three consoles simultaneously (by three different people) at QuakeCon 2010. They looked pretty much identical, though the Xbox 360 version crashed once.
