Its not 8%, its 67% DIGITAL games to 33% Physical, and that % actually represented a drop for digital, in previous quarters (and previous years) the gap between digital and physical has been even higher

So unless a huge amount of people are getting the physical PS5 but buy mostly or only digital games, or its the SKU that Sony produces more of despite such a preference for digital games, it would be quite weird for the Disc version of the PS5 to outsell that much the Digita...

Lol, why are people disagreeing? Those are literally the numbers taken from directly from Sony’s latest fiscal report.
The only question left is whether people are buying the physical edition console despite buying digital games (I actually do that, the disc drive is for movies, though even physical movies are also dropping in sales) or just getting the cheaper digital version.
I suppose it also depends on which SKU Sony produces more of, though I gotta imagine they also wou...

i would say the problem with gamers nowadays would be when they are suddenly expecting content updates for a game mode that has been out for 5 weeks…

Even normal updates can easily take a few weeks to do.

And thats not taking into account that there isnt inherently anything gamebreaking about the bugs in Lego Fortnite?

Can it be better? Yes. Can it have more content? Also yes. Is a completely functional and serviceable game mode as it i...

Unlikely given most games sold for Sony are digital (or people are buying the Physical PS5 but still buying digital games). Even for Nintendo the digital sales finally outpaced physical ones.

“Zooming in on PlayStation's physical/digital sales split (which looks at units sold rather than cash), just over two thirds (67 per cent) of software sales were digital in Q2 2023. This is a slight increase year-on-year, but down compared to Q1 2023.”

Only thing I didnt like is that the performance mode cutbacks dont play well with the art style, it looked significantly better in the Quality/30fps mode, which yes you can get used to, but for a crossgen title and one which artistically might be quite nice, but technically isnt pushing anything out of the ordinary, I was really expecting better graphical settings for the PS5 version.

I’ll play it on PC anyway so its not something that particularly affects me, but I was sti...

It has just barely been 1 month since the game mode came out…..kinda hard to blame them for not putting out a whole bunch of content and updates in less than 5 weeks since it was released

Does it?

Not that its not unbelievably idiotic that something like this exists, but its not exactly new, they have a pack like this every year (with a price that is constantly going up since it “has more stuff”), so its hard to call it a NEW low when its been going on for a while.

At this point I just have to think that while some part of the game does actually exist for regular people to play, this whole other part of it has to be some kind of money lau...

Also curious as to whether there is any surprise showing, that image certainly looks like it can fit another game (and the whole presentation being close to an hour would also hint at something else being shown), though last time out even with the surprise reveal of HiFi Rush they did include the developer in the image, just not the game, so who knows?

@Eihander

I’ve played every single Playstation console (technically didnt own a PS2, could only afford 1 console in high school, so I got a Gamecube and traded consoles with some friends every couple of months so we could all play everything)

I have owned every Xbox except the OG (actually sold my Series X when I built a 4090/7800x3D PC early last year)

I have owned practically every Nintendo console except perhaps the original gameboy ...

You do understand that DLSS and XeSS are also “AI” upscalers? DLSS literally means DEEP LEARNING super sampling… they all use machine learning to train their models…

DLSS has dedicated hardware in the GPU for it (because of course it would, its Nvidia) and FSR2 and XeSS dont use dedicated hardware.

But they all do the same thing in the end, with very similar results all around in terms of performance and image quality, with t...

No, they do still increase (not indefinitely though)

Previously level 29 was as high as anyone could go because they dropped so fast that it was impossible to get pieces to either side.

But a couple different techniques came out throughout the years that allowed players to go past that level easily.

The other issue that eventually came up besides the drop speed were the color palettes get really weird after level 100 and something, so t...

That’s technically just a byproduct, the tech is still for upscaling/super sampling, which is why DLAA also exists, which the upscaling at native resolution purely for the image quality improvements.
Just as for example DLSS 3.5 is a denoiser but can in some scenarios also give a slight performance boost.

He is probably talking about frame generation, which will probably become more common by the time next gen arrives but might be too soon for the PS5 Pro.

True, though I would argue just as many people ran with it for the positive numbers of Spiderman as well haha.

I would also argue that just the date on the file is not actually enough to make any assumptions on what it was used for or how accurate it could be, its not like its uncommon to see a file continuously updated over a long period of time.
Same with these new numbers, all these hacked details really lack a lot of context to try to use them to come up with d...

Cool, thanks for the link. Nice to see it looks like it did make a profit, really love the R&C games and would hate for them them to go away.

Its not like the number was made up by anyone here… it was included in a report from the same hacked files.

Where are you coming up with 64 million ?

Its really more of a when rather than and if to be honest.

It happened to every single other kind of entertainment medium, it will happen to gaming eventually too (that said, its not like there aren’t physical or digital purchases for music and video, they just arent as prevalent)

Also, he is saying 1 more generation.. thats still easily 10-12 more years… we cant even properly predict what will happen 1-2 years in advance, much less 10+ years ahead, it do...

Pretty decent game, enjoyed it quite a bit. They really should have scaled it down a bit though, a bit too much open world padding for my liking.

But a sequel would be quite interesting if they get the balance right

Where is Burning Shores in their Top 10?

152d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

Its a mathematical average…. It tells exactly what an average is supposed to say…

Number of hours played / number of players

Of course there will be players with more than the average and those with less, but it will still average to same amount among the 13 million
