Starz (Anchor Bay) Joins Blu-ray Exclusively

Starz Home Entertainment has announced that they will begin releasing titles exclusively for Blu-ray. Most people know Starz Home Entertainment by their former name, Anchor Bay, who own rights to over 600 movies and TV shows, including many horror classics like 'Evil Dead' and the 'Hellraiser' and 'Halloween' series.

You can be sure I'll pick that one up BABY!

SmokeyMcBear6159d ago

haha ah yes.. one of my all time favorites, already have this movie ripped and converted on my external HDD, but would like to see it in HD

"This...is my BOOM Stick"
"Close the Door.. were you born in a barn?... you probably were along with the other primatives"
"Gimme some sugar baby"
"Good... Bad.. I'm the guy with gun"
"Hey.. whats that on your face? *shovels dirt*"

Ah man, awesome movie

LeonSKennedy4Life6159d ago

Amen to that!

Bruce Campbell FTW!!!

Anyone seen "The Man with the Screaming Brain"???

It's amazing!

Army of Darkness is universal...
Evil Dead was Anchor Bay... I could be wrong, but I've already seen Army of Darkness available in HD DVD. Stupid Universal... I wish they would just hurry up and go neutral so we can end this war once and for all..

If you've ever seen an older film on a Hi Def disc, it's not very impressive.
Hi Def movies are only as crisp as the original film, so don't expect much in the ways of increased video quality.
I recently watched the Blair Witch project, and I tried to stab myself in the heart when it began to play and I saw how average looking the video quality was.
You're better off just keeping the original DVD and letting your PS3 upscale it

Looks like blu-ray supporters are starting to pick up.......not that it needed it since it has so much studio support. But its good to see more and more people adopting it. Looks like blockbuster may have started a wildfire!

I thought HD-DVD was doing so well..and accounted for 60% of all HD sales. Those jumping on the BD bandwagon would say otherwise.

Bill Gates6159d ago (Edited 6159d ago )

This is just too much for one contender to take. Someone please throw in the towel for HD-DVD...hahahaha

@Kyur4ThePain...it's just that every time the home page reloads, there's just more good news to rub in the faces of all the dumb xbots that have been taking so much sh1t for so long. But I see that now that all this good news is out, they've all crawled back into their caves....yeah it's fun...hahaha

@Snake_Doctor...THAT WAS HILARIOUS!!

:)

@ODION below:

What does this have to do with gaming?
About has much as the doom and gloom stories / posts about Sony being in "financial trouble", or the stories that Kuteragisan resigned recently, or the stories about....I think you get the idea.

Sony took a MASSIVE gamble with the PS3 and Blu-Ray. They knew it would cause some short-term problems, but were willing to risk almost everything.

The fact that Sony, as a gaming company, seems to have made the right choice and will be making money hand over fist for a long time because of it, makes it gaming news.

I know this is hard for you to accept, but you;re going to have to live with it.

Snake_Doctor6159d ago

They would but the towel is "busy" at the moment

Kyur4ThePain6159d ago

High demand for the RTX 40 series, especially the RTX 4060 Ti, sees price hikes according to recent reports - even with the 50 series coming.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to buy a 4060Ti when the AMD 7700XT and 7800XT exist.
