This is the difference between Sony and MS. I loved their previous game, Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy was one of the most innovative games in the last gen and for me one of the best if not the best PS2 game. Now it’s Sony’s exclusive and with the cinematic HD power of the PS3 this game will be huge. I end how I started, games like this is the Sony difference. Sony does a great job at getting great and innovative studios. That’s how they brought us games like GOW, SOFTC, ICO, Okami etc. MS can fork out 50mill for some additional GTA content, thats not the road Sony wanna follow.

There WAS no game at that point, so it COULDN'T have been "in-game". My point is, it wasn't gameplay, and it wasn't running on a PS3 or a 360. Sure, it was playing on an early PS3 dev kit...but they were essentially tricked out PC rigs; the demo was just being played from a dvd disc on the dev kit.
BTW, CG stands for COMPUTER GENERATED, meaning it's not been dev'd for, or tested on a specific platform, for gameplay. Just like the Killzone and Motorstorm BS, the PS3 can't pull off that level of detail in an actual game. It's a cool looking video, but it's not indicative of gameplay...likely closer to cutscenes. Capisci?

CGI is simply a movie. A computer cartoon.

Realtime, as this demo is, is completely 3D graphics, calculated on the fly and rendered by hardware.

Thats why the Halo trailer is ingame graphics, even if that part never gets into the game. Same applys here.

The Halo 3 trailer was "real-time", but not indicative of actual gameplay; anyone who expects those graphics in-game....especially after the MP Beta...is a fool. The same can be said of the tech demo for Heavy Rain. Quantic Dream stated it had nothing to do with the game, was created to show off the engine. You can use a game engine to create a CG movie...it's done all the time.

I notice that the original article has a question mark at the end, indicating that the heading is speculation. However, in this N4G version, the question mark is omitted, which makes it sound like official confirmation (which is isn't).

The original article (and the one on this site) does not mention Heavy Rain. It says that Quantum (who are making Heavy Rain) are making a game for PS3 in conjunction with SCEE.

So please stop jumping to conclusions.

I liked the "Heavy Rain" tech demo. Maybe here's potential for something great - hope so.
It's a bit sad for the motion captured and audio recorded actors like in Silent Hill 2+3. They do a good job but like stuntmen in movies the consumer will never honour their work.

I just don't get, anyways seem to fit the PS library since most FPS shooters are on the 360 and action/adventures games are on the PS3. And to the comment about the $600 for a PS3 it's worth it. I have both and beleave me when I say if the 360 was more reliable(better parts in the hardware), came with HDMI and 60gig harddrive and HD it would also be worth $600. But M$ took the cheap way out it's like comparing a 42" vizio 1080p and a 42" sony bravia 1080p which would you expect to have the better quality and better features. I see your point. However, the price for the "quality" product that Sony Delivers is killing off the average consumer. PS1 & 2 got Off to a slow start as well, but the competition isn't as stiff as it is now.

If there were no AAA games coming to the PS3 I would agree, but look at the quality of games that are coming to the PS3 these are the type of games that made the PS2 so great. The only game I've been playing on my 360 is gears, everything else on their is just more of the same FPS and that's ok for some people, but I want the epic stories that made games like GOD OF WAR and ICO legendary. PS3 had a slow start nobody can disagree, but everyone know what the PS3 is capable. 360 is still going to have their shooting fans, but in the long run PS3 is going to dominate especially when they drop the price

This is where Sony rock, and where small, smart developers can reach their imaginations.
Next Gen developement is so expensive. If you tie yourself to one console you may not make money and doing something different is risky. So what do you do? You go to someone who shares your vision and has the money to make it happen.

More often than not, that someone is Sony. Because they like games that are different. Thats why we have games like ICO, SotC, LBP. Sony reconise potential in a title or a dev team, yet they dont just swoop in and buy it. They fund it, it let them keep their creative control. They understand the importance of not interfering to much, afterall, you're backing these people because of their talent so you must trust them to do the right thing.

Other companies may or may not follow the same creed, but I'm not going to mention anything about that. I'm talking about what I like about Sony, not what I dont like about others.

PS. I've been excited about this game since I first saw it. The only game with graphics more photorealistic than Little Big Planet. About time it got nailed down and it will be alot better game for being exclusive. You honestly cant think their could fit much of that quality graphics onto a disc smaller than BluRay.

That tech demo has NOTHING to do with the actual game...devs said so after E3. It was simply meant to show off their engine, and some ideas they had about next-gen gaming. Sony saw it, and paid them to rush out something "polshed" that they could show as "playing" on the PS3, to go along with their other smoke-n-mirrors projects. E3 '05 for Sony, was just like it was in '99 with the PS2: all show, BS, and no substance.

Quantic Dreams is one of two developers whom I'd buy any game they made based on blind faith alone, the other being Team Ico. Indigo Prophecy was one of the most engrossing games I've ever had the pleasure of playing, and I trust QD to put forth the same amount of effort, detail, and innovation into their future projects as well. I can't wait to see what Heavy Rain turns out to be (it was because of that E3 trailer that I made my youtube account; first video I ever posted too), and if this exclusive is not that, then that just means two titles I can look forward to from them. I even mentioned recently how snippets of The Darkness hearkens back to IP.

The third team I trusted used to be Clover Studios, but sadly, they're no longer with us :-(
