Arkham Asylum 2 Not Coming Until 2011? - Gamervision.com

Gamervision says, "The surprise hit of 2009, Batman: Arkham Asylum provided gamers with the first really great Batman gaming experience. Thanks largely to its success, Eidos revealed plans for the franchise to get a new installment every year, a fact punctuated by the announcement of Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 at the 2009 Spike VGAs. While it may have only been assumed that Eidos would be able to get a new title on shelves in 2010, it looks like we're going to have to wait a little longer to don the cowl once again. Our industry source has revealed that Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 won't be hitting shelves this year, and is likely not to arrive until early to mid-2011."

i hope this game doesn't get delayed.

BeaArthur5199d ago

It takes as long as it takes. Better delayed than unfinished.

Christopher5199d ago

Yeah, I actually prefer taking more than a year to make the next game, regardless of how good it is after only six months. Gives them time to really deliver some new and well-tested gameplay elements.

Rockox5199d ago

Eidos can take as long as they need, just put out another quality Batman game.

LtSkittles5199d ago

RockSteady is developing it, and WB is publishing it.

"Batman Arkham Asylum was one of Eidos Interactive's (now Square Enix Europe's) most successful games in years. Warner Bros. owns the rights to the property though, and they're cutting in on the sequel.

Warner Bros. has announced that they will be publishing Arkham Aslyum 2 worldwide, seemingly dropping Square Enix Europe from the deal entirely. Eidos and Warner Bros. worked together to publish the first game.

This isn't the first time this has happened to Eidos. They partnered with LucasArts in 2005 to publish the highly successful Lego Star Wars, only to be dropped for subsequent games.

Looks like they can't catch a break. Arkham Asylum 2 will be out next year courtesy of Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios."

It would be a dream come true if it came out this November 100% finished and completely polished. It would go along great with Dead space 2 and Bioshock 2 (three games that are in a way similar to each other)

LtSkittles5199d ago

I knew this would happen. The release date wasn't announced, and people assumed 2010, but I think RockSteady, and WB know how packed 2010 is, and decided to go for an early to mid 2011 release date.

Yes, this gives us something to look forward too, in 2011.

Top Ten Superhero Games

"Superheroes have been in video games for ages now. At first tied into cartoons and movies, video games have gone on to give popular superheroes new epic stories and even foster entirely new heroes. " | Explosion.com

I'd have raged if inFamous wasnt included. Glad to see its on the list twice :)

ZeekQuattro4029d ago

The only thing I disagree with on that list is MVC 3. I liked 2 so much better and stopped playing 3 shortly after I bought it because it just wasn't as fun and I missed characters that were in the 2nd one.

Brashcast: Episode 13 – It’s Batman, not Batboy….and that’s a scientific fact

Brash Games writes "Liam and Ross like their Batmen manly, their slim consoles, well, not shit and their normal consoles from a galaxy far, far away. Reggie face-of-meat encourages bullying, Sony still can’t do advertising and Liam almost enjoys Kinect. All this, and as always, so much more".

How To Improve Our Gaming Experience

There are loads of ways to improve our gaming experience. I’m sure there are more than a few out there who’ve happily guzzled some mind-altering drugs and freaked when they came across their first feral ghoul in Fallout 3. You’ve also got those people who like to immerse themselves in the game: from the people screaming sexist and racist insults over headsets while playing [insert FPS of your choice here] to the people who spend mortgage-sized chunks of money to bring their ‘MechWarrior’ fantasies almost to sweaty life. That’s not forgetting the bunch of mates who get together, have a few drinks and gradually get more sullen with each other over Need for Speed or FIFA 2012.
