This Monday, January 25th, select GameStop stores will be hosting midnight launch openings for both Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360, PC) and MAG (PS3). Over 2,500 GameStop stores will be open starting at 10pm, with several participating in some contests. If you want to be among the first to play the games and are ready to pull an all-nighter, see a list of GameStop stores participating in the midnight launch here.

Details from GameStop:
"GameStop, the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, announced that it is hosting two-for-one midnight opening events for Electronic Arts' Mass Effect 2 and Sony Computer Entertainment's MAG on Monday, Jan. 25, at more than 2,500 stores nationwide. Some locations will give event-goers the chance to test their soldier skills with a tank building challenge, commando dress up contest, grenade launch and other games of skill.

Most participating GameStop locations will open at 10 p.m. local time for the special events with sales starting at midnight; however, customers are asked to contact their local store to confirm the exact time of the event."

Went to GameStop for their Batman:AA opening on the 24th of August, and it was fun, because they had a 360, and PS3 setup, to play it. I got a little farther ahead of the people who were on the 360, and it was funny hearing them get to where I was. Probably, going to the Soul Silver one if they have one.

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
