Light gun games have been around for some time, and easily one of the most successful and popular franchises in the genre is Time Crisis. Well Namco Bandai Games isn't leaving its latest title in the arcade as it's headed exclusively to the PlayStation 3 this fall. And of course, you can't have a new Time Crisis on a new platform without a new GunCon to play it with...
One of the biggest technical features that long-time fans of the series will love to hear is that Time Crisis 4 will be compatible with any display type. Be it a hefty CRT, a flat-panel LCD or plasma set, a rear-projection display or even a projector, Time Crisis 4 will work thanks to its new set up. Rather than having the GunCon take a snapshot of the screen, the GunCon 3 setup utilizes two sensors that you place atop your display and the gun then reads them to know where it's pointing. The sensors are small squares, maybe an inch or two in length on each side, that simply need to be aligned at the top of the set but not necessarily at the corners. So those of you with 120" projection screens need not worry.

"... Now though, light gun games seem pretty darn archaic compared with what’s available on home consoles and PCs, what with full 3D first-person shooters that allow gamers to interact with environments and move through areas at their own pace, using their own strategy and guile (and arsenal of weapons) to make it through a wall of enemies. Now-a-days, ‘on-rails’ shooters are considered a cop out – why not just make a full 3D game?
Just because something seems a little old, however, doesn’t mean that it’s not a whole ton of fun, and Time Crisis: Razing Storm packs enough ‘old fun’ onto one disc to make you forget about advances in videogames, and just lets you kick back, squeeze the trigger and have a blast!"
Motion controls such as those found on the PlayStation Move and the Nintendo Wii give you the option of bringing a very specific arcade genre into your home: the light gun game.
We've seen these games on Nintendo's system, but with Time Crisis: Razing Storm Namco, Bandai has the chance to further prove the PlayStation 3 can be a good home for the "kill everything on screen" games.
Razing Storm doesn't just include the titular game, it also packs in the arcade version of Time Crisis 4, as well as the little-known Deadstorm Pirates. For $50, that's quite the variety of games.
that looks pretty slick. Complete control of movement too is a nice little feature. I must say I do enjoy this series and I always liked the arcade versions better just for the fact of the big screen. However, I do have a nice sized TV for this version so I think I'll be ready for some home console action when this comes out ^^
Ew, fugly!

One would think that an on-rails shooter would look better than that.

this year ps3 owners will get
Ninja Gaiden sigma
Warhawk
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet and clank tools of destruction
Lair
Folklore
uncharted drakes fortune
time crisis 4
Haze (time exclusive)
and this is only exclusive games not including mulitiplaform game such gta iv, assassin creed, and dark sector etc.. im goin to be hella broke this year..
Seems like a lot of extra hardware for the GunCon 3 system, but Time Crisis games are very fun so it's probably worth it.
