But this isn't the first PS3 R&C game... it's the 3rd...

The reason why it's selling well, IMHO, is because of the new time puzzles involved and how people are talking them up and because more people who were sticking with PS2 purchased a PS3 in the last two months since the price drop.

Blu-ray is too expensive to be used for piracy, therefore there is no piracy on PS3 (yet), thanks to Blu-ray.

Well, you don't need to load it from the bluray if you can put it on an external or the harddrive itself. What you do need to load a copy bluray or from the harddrive is a loader that will bypass the security check.

Just look at the PSP, you don't need to burn a UMD, just rip it. You just need to put it on a memory stick and in the early days, use a loader. With CFW, you just load the game like normal.

I'm not saying Bluray wasn't a smart choice but it's just not the main reason why there are no piracy on the PS3. Sony saw their mistake with the PSP and buff up the security in the PS3 software and hardware.

When the PS3 loader comes out in 2010, Sony is gonna be screwed because of the lower install base. Sony exclusives like R&C will also suffer.

Games are in the 25GB-50GB range. Some even add redundant data just to fill the discs. So yeah, the fact that they made it Blu-ray dependent is one of the main reasons PS3 piracy is not rampant like it is on PS2.

So, if anyone wants to pirate games on PS3, I wish them good luck downloading that much information, getting HDDs that big, swapping them all the time, formatting them, ruinning PS3's warranty by modding it.

hacking a ps3 isn't even worth it. too much time and space consumed. 1 firmware update = brick all pirate's system easily. KaBOOM!

Which would you rather do, spend at least 5 hours downloading a game, couple more hours burning it, add in electricity bill + blu ray burner + blu ray disc (and or extra hard drive space), having to take the risk of a firmware update bomb, or go to the store and purchase a game which only (for some of us) take about 1 hour ~ 2 hours of work to buy.

You don't know what are you talking about, linux even don't have a proper DirectX support/compatibilty and the PowerPc architecture don't have all the available/compatible software that others distributions have (aka i386/64bits)

Game deserves all the sales it can get, excellent platformer, one of the few in a dying genre :(. It's sad, really sad.

I wrestle my kid each night for the controller on this game. It is a great platformer with great writing, visuals and weapons. I reall dig that my kid is into this and not wanting to run around on MW or GTA.

One of the last greats in the genre. Kudos Insomniac.

It's not short of awesome indeed, but it could have been even better!

Just go in the Insomniac Museum and look at all the great ideas they cut off because it would need more time to polish... Leviathans to fight with in galaxy sectors, at least 3 weapons, randomly generated puzzle platforms, time slowing/electric floor mini puzzles, AI battle arena, other time control powers... Just to name some!

I pretty sure that launching in september was probably an appointment that both Sony and Insomniac wanted to meet, but they really should have considered giving it some more time to implement those ideas.

Game is brilliant, much better than ToD in every front and I enjoyed ToD a lot. I've already put 17 hours in ACiT, playing on hard to maximize the challenge and doing a lot of moon explorations, gladiator challenges and Zoni's upgrades. Game is a lot of fun. I feel I'm close to finish the story but still there is a lot to explore.

One of the reasons i am holding out on buying this game is because tool of destructions and Quest for Booty left me with a bitter sweet taste. Great graphics, great potential but the story was not up to par, and the action for most of the game was average.
How much of an improvement is ACiT after ToD? Is it at a comparable magnitude as GoW 1 and GoW2? Or Uncharted DF and Uncharted 2 AT?

I'm 20, and I have to say, it looks really fun. I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet as I have exams, but my roommate is playing the game a lot and it's very tempting to just go play.

Depends.... The game is suitable for all ages, but if you're not that into kiddie "looking" games you could lose interest.

You have to understand though, that even though the game is colorful and funny, it doesn't mean that it's childish... The game is fun and diverse but I had enough with TOD this gen.

You should try this one as it's apparently better and funner than TOD, but know what you're getting into before hand and you will have no problems enjoying it.

Well, my first Ratchet game was Tools of Destruction, which was when I was 23. I'm 25 now, and A Crack In Time is easily one of my game of the year frontrunners. Actually, I liked it more Uncharted 2, which surprised even me. Uncharted 2 was my most anticipated game this year for the majority of the year, but when all was said and done, both Demon's Souls and A Crack In Time come out on top for me this year, with Uncharted 2 in third place. You're never too old for Ratchet & Clank as far as I'm concerned.

Tools of destruction was my first, which I completed just a month ago, I picked up the chapter game quest for booty which I devoured in a couple hours (the lvl in the dark cave was pretty cool).

Now I'm going back to the PS2 titles, which amazingly play very similarly to the PS3 ones. I currently have 18 hours of game play into Going Commando (5 more than tools of destruction). The level layouts are great. There are enough difference in each of the weapons that you want them all.

A crack in time is on my xmas wishlist. I'm 30 and would recommend the games to anyone.

I was 24 when I purchased my first R&C game, Tools Of Destruction. Absolutely loved it. I mean come on.... You can throw out a disco ball to make all your enemies dance, load up your rocket launcher and blow them all into teensy weency pieces! Or suck them into a tornado. Or shrink them. Or call out a Mr Zurkon.... Damn man. The creativity that goes into these games is astounding.

But I think some one at insomniac ran over some ones cat. Their games are always reviewed lower than what they should be. I've read comments about ACiT not doing anything new, and im like WTF! the new galaxy hub thing they have going is cool, and all the moon missions. I have barley progressed in the game because Im doing all the moon missions first. Then they give you hover boots. Oh and the constructo weapons.... Oh and the time control puzzles are cool.

Anyway I'm 25 and I love this game. It's like one of those pixar movies. Its great for little kids, but it has that depth of charm to it that really makes it appeal to everyone.

I wouldn't brag about that. R/C sold like crap before and will sell like crap again. Beating it's predecessor by thousands isn't really a good thing. It means the franchise has reached a plateau and is not progressing anymore. Insomniac should call it quits or start a new franchise on the 360 were the gamers can truly appreciate their games. I don't like the 360 because it isn't reliable, but at the same time i realize that there are games for it that i enjoy, mass effect, gears of war (never played part 2) kameo always looked pretty cool to me, fable 2 was pretty fun.

ElementX comment is so full of fail that is embarrassing. ACiT is the finest game from Insomniac, and while it still remains faithful to the formula, it's much more variated, refined and with enough additions to be considered a worthy sequel.

I can't believe some sites knocked it by saying it's the same old thing.

The time puzzles with clank, the free roaming space missions, the hover boots and the radio stations in the spaceship (i'm loving the pirate station with the mellow guitar songs, so awesome). This game added so much to the series. I really don't understand review sites anymore.

I love the Ratchet games, and have most of them. (Including the PS3 debut) After getting the slim, MW2, Uncharted 2, MW 1, Batman, Killzone 2, and LBP...money is a little tight right now. (Still have to get the GOW collection.)

a remastering of Up Your Arsenal in the A Crack in Time engine would, hands down, be the best Ratchet and Clank game...EVER!!

anyway, congrats to Insomniac. they are such an underappreciated developer. how many developers can consistently release quality games every year, while still devoting two years to each project? the Resistance and Ratchet franchises are excellent, and i can't wait for future entries, as well as the new IPs Insomniac have planned.
