The best thing about it is the characters imo

Fishy Fingers5305d ago

First off, QTE is an abbreviation of three words, secondly, there's what, three, maybe four QTEs in the game.

mrv3215305d ago

Uncharted 2's biggest flaw is that it includes QTE but they are the BEST QTE's EVER.

Fishy Fingers5305d ago

Used correctly QTEs can be great, they basically make what would have been minor cut scenes, interactive. Sure they've been used poorly in several games, but that doesnt mean they should be written off.

Take God of War, the subtle QTEs allow you to feel like you've pulled off a move that traditionally wouldnt be possible with the set command lists.

Heavy rain is another title that shows their potential if used correctly to enhance the situation.

foxtheory5305d ago (Edited 5305d ago )

God of War and Heavy Rain (from what I've seen) do QTE perfectly. But games that throw in unnecessary QTE just don't work, and you can tell when they don't. QTE are supposed to make the whole experience more immersive with more interaction, it's not a let's-throw-it-in-there-just-b ecause thing. A lot of games get flack about that (like Ninja Blade).

And from my knowledge, Uncharted 2 barely had any QTE. The only ones that I can think of off the top of my head was when you finish off an enemy with a melee attack at a certain part in the game and another part which I won't tell because it's a spoiler (if you finished the game, you know). That's it. Drake's Fortune had more than that.

Bonsai12145305d ago

i think you guys are misinterpreting what he's saying. i think he's saying its a QTE because the game is so interactive that it feels like you're playing a movie.

like imagine the Leon vs Krauser scene in RE4. but now imagine actually playing that exact cutscene with real controls instead of button prompts. I think he's saying that's how awesome U2 is.

foxtheory5305d ago (Edited 5305d ago )

instead of going for a "world record". If you're gonna make a review, take the time to elaborate on your opinion. It's a review, not a comment. They're supposed to inform people about the aspects of the game, not to give a vivid abbreviation of something that the audience will take as "it has lots of QTE".

mal_tez925305d ago

These were rare in Uncharted 2. About 99.99% of the action was dealt with with full control of Drake.

This includes being inside a collapsing building, being in mutiple firefights on a speeding train, in a village being torn to pieces by an army with a tank, running from a truck that's chasing you down a small alley, taking down a helicopter from a rooftop, escaping from a pursuing helicopter while on a speeding train that is blowing the train apart carriage by carriage, taking down that helicopter using an Anti-Air gun while on the speeding train, a short firefight while on a huge piece of a buliding as is slides down a mountain and leaping from moving vehicles onto other moving vehicles in a firefight which leads you to a mounted grenade launcher to take out jeeps.

All of these EPIC moments you have full control of Drake.

Which means my one word review of Uncharted 2 is: EPIC

If I missed any epic moments please tell me.

foxtheory5305d ago

The game in and of itself is an epic moment. There isn't a single part that didn't amaze me. Hell, the scene where he's walking through the Tibetan village was epic! Everything felt so alive, and you could interact with the kids. Now THAT is an example of an outstanding game, where a simple scene like that is given that much detail. And that's not even an action part...

mal_tez925305d ago

Totally agree with you. The game is an experience like no other, and never stops being awesome. But there are some parts that manage to stand out as EPIC, not just from this game, but are EPIC compared to any other game ever made.

Add these epic moments into the best shooter gameplay with great platforming and fighting (the same gameplay from Uncharted 1) and you get an unbeatable game.

I'd love to see the game that tops this. Hopefully Call of Duty is good but I doubt it can beat this.

monkey6025305d ago

Foxtheory I know exactly what you mean. I was extremely impressed walking around that village being able to walk up to villagers and shake their hands. Pet Yaks even attemp to lift ones tail. Such detail. Also getting into the pool on top of the Shambhala Hotel is hilarious

foxtheory5305d ago

One game that I would LOVE to see do something like that is Assassin's Creed. Don't get me wrong, AC is a great game. But imagine it with that much depth and interaction. It would be hard to do in an open world, but hey! I'm just dreaming.

If Uncharted 2 was that epic, then I wonder what Uncharted 3 will be like!?!

I have one word for the ps3 informer review: dumb.

Anorexorcist5305d ago (Edited 5305d ago )

And label them as one word: SOB's

QTE is my favorite kind of word...you know, the kind of word that legitimately isn't a word.

HolyOrangeCows5305d ago (Edited 5305d ago )

There's like, one or two of them, and that's it.

I wonder if the ''reviewer'' even played the game?

jerethdagryphon5305d ago

a qte is usally a random action button done at a point it unexpected

uc2 are promts because they dont change

to ovoid a preticular attack its triangle square
however that corasonds to counter mellee wo its not a qte

because of the cutscenes fluidness grom game to cutscene to game it needs promts to tell players oh your in controll again

article = fail

Poopface the 2nd5305d ago

but I do remember one of them unexpectedly came up and I died. I liked U2 alot. I really didnt like the ending of teh first uncharted with the last boss fight. Glad they put a real battle in this one as it was much more memorable.

The Inconsistent Harmony: 5 Examples of Ludonarrative Dissonance in Video Games

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "I finally have a proper designation akin to what I've always referred to internally as 'the line that must be crossed' or 'The Line', for short – ludonarrative dissonance – the separation from a video game's story in relation to its gameplay. Why isn't PETA all up in Mario's grill for jumping on turtles and killing fish, or charging Samus Aran with the extinction of the Metroid species? Ever notice how fire has that habit of making bosses in Resident Evil stronger? Read on my friend, for I endeavor to imbue you with the ability to engage in basic queries concerning the concept."

UC 2, 4, 3 and 1. Great read and article

ABizzel11007d ago

No Golden Abyss -_-, otherwise I agree with the order.

UC2: Best overall
UC4: Best graphics, best gameplay, best locations, best environements
UC3: Best set pieces IMO (the boat and desert fights will always be amazing)
UC1: A rough Draft of what was to come
UCGA: Basically UC1 on Vita

Levii_921007d ago (Edited 1007d ago )

Great list and great article nicely writen and explained. Although for me personaly i would put Drakes Fortune above Drake’s Deception and Uncharted 4 is absolutely my favourite of the franchise and number 1 for me.

Inverno1007d ago

U2 is the only game playable on crushing without causing a great amount of frustration. Not to mention just how much influence it had that they redid some of U2s set pieces like the caravan twice, and armored truck chase in U4.

DFresh1007d ago (Edited 1007d ago )

I'd rate it as the following.

1.) Uncharted 2
(Close to perfection of any game I've played in years. Single Player/Multiplayer/Co Op all amazing.)

2.) Uncharted 3
(On par with UC2 multiplayer/co op wise minus the kickbacks [aka killstreaks]. I really liked the Lawrence of Arabia story.)

3.) Uncharted 4
(Single player is amazing. Multiplayer was meh. Co Op had potential. Absolutely hated the health revive system it slowed down the game way too much. Always preferred the fast pace action of UC2/UC3. Made it way more fun that way. Recoil was too ridiculous that most people in lobbies would only do hip firing, using power weapons and using that OP grappling hook to melee people after dropping them. Nobody wanted to revive anyone.)

4.) Uncharted
(It's the first in the series so it's hard to judge. Though I loved the story.)

NecrumOddBoy1007d ago

I agree here but it’s also a series you can play from front to back and truly enjoy. Story-wise, they are all great and flow so well. I wish they threw both Golden Abyss and Lost Legacy on this list. Lost Legacy is the best mechanically in my opinion. You can see it’s stepping stone framework for TLOUS2.

Michiel19891007d ago

uncharted 2 is one of the few games that actually surpassed its pre-release hype.

medman1007d ago (Edited 1007d ago )

I am a single player gamer...I barely ever touch a multiplayer component. The only exceptions over the years have been the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, TLOU factions, and the Uncharted 2 multiplayer. The Uncharted 2 multiplayer saw me spend more time playing it than all my other multiplayer experiences over the years combined. That game really was a masterpiece all around.

brando0081006d ago

I agree completely, those are all stellar MP experiences, coming from another SP gamer who only occasionally gives MP some time.

Gardenia1007d ago

Come to think of it, the step between Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 is huge. It goes from the weakest in the series to one of the best games ever made.
I think I'm going to play all of them again soon.

Ninver1007d ago

Yeah all of a sudden I've got that Uncharted itch.

Michiel19891007d ago

is multiplayer still up for the remastered trilogy? or did it never have UC2 mp?

Ninver1007d ago

@michiel1989

Not sure
