if you want to drive a sim, this is THE best racing sim since forever. The audio, the visuals and physics on the gt5 DEMO are above anything else out right now.

on the other side of things, if professional mode is too much for you...you can shut it off and just play an arcade racer.

I think a great deal of patience is required with Sony, since they almost always release information way to early. How about releasing information about the game when it is ready?

I'm not sure where you're getting your info (I'd like to know though, by all means share :)) However, I would have to pretty much agree (though I'm not as clearly confident as Johnny seems to be, like he knows something we don't), but I'd say it will either happen at GamesCom (well most likely that 3 hour press conference the day before) or TGS. Though I'm more leaning towards a release date at that press conference and then TGS having some actual hands-on with the game or something. Either way, I'm really hoping this hits this year. I can't wait for GT5 (just wish I could afford one of these elaborate setups--nice expensive wheel with seat and all that--like some people seem to be willing to pay for one game pretty much).

I think they will announce it at tgs because if Sony announce the slim at gamecon then that itself is big enough. Tgs is bigger than gamecon anways and PD is based in japan as well. There is no reason for sony to drop all their bombs in one go.

They're going to throw as many cars & tracks as they can before release. I'm sure it'll have over 1000 cars & 100 Non-Reverse Tracks.
GTPSP has 800+ cars all that can be transferred to GT5. Now count all the official Nascar & WRC vehicles not in GTPSP, I presume.
I hope Polyphony has finally created they're "encyclopedia" of cars.

@poindat GT4 had 50+ Tracks, you sure my estimate is off? Add reverses in GT4 it's 100+ check wikipedia. The back of GT4s case says 100+ because they added the reverses. The wikipedia article does not. GT4 had 51 Tracks to be exact, 102 counting reverses. lol

It's probably impossible to describe because there's always so much packed into one GT game, and with the addition of WRC and Nascar, it's shaping up to be one of the biggest Racing Sim's this generation. GTHD which was built on a PS2 engine is very old & was a early build of GT5 and it still looks better then Forza 3.

Anyway's I was reading up on the GTPlanet forums and there was a thread that was talking about tyre deformation in GT5 and most if not all the users commenting on that thread came to the conclusion that GT5 will indeed had a 'FULL' and 'COMPLETE' tyre deformation meaning even when the cars is driving on a straight road or just sitting in a parked position the cars weight will still deform the tyres like in real life due to the mass of the engine. Whereas in Forza3 the tyres only deform when your going round a bend which means that Forza3 won't have complete or full tyre deformation.

The thread started with a CGI render of the new 2009 Corvette for the PSP version. The Corvette was sitting in a show room like in GT5p but the tyres were very clearly deforming due to the weight of the Corvettes engine in the front of the car. At first everyone thought the tyres were going through the show room floor but then that was ruled out when some posted a higher res picture with an extra level of brightness done on PhotoShop to expose the contact between the tyres and floor. This further proved that the tyres were indeed deforming and not cutting through a bunch of polygons.

It looks like Yamauchi is giving us hints that the full game will feature realistic tyre deformation with weather and the day/night cycles as well as all the other features Mr Yamauchi hasn't even talked about.

This game truly is going to be the biggest Racing/Driving Simulator this gen.

Yamauchi reminds me of Kojima in lot of ways. They strive for perfection, they know when they have something good and, no matter how good the game is, always felt they could have done something more or something different. They never proclaim to have the best game ever or that nothing else can be done to improve on it, which is the way developers should approach it. No matter how good a game is, it could always be better.

A Racing Sim is EPIC when achieve what it was created for... "Simulation" something that they still have a long way to achieve.

An Epic Racing Sim is achieved when you can tune your car with real world calculation and the car in the game (REACT) drive and handle like in real life.

You can have 1,000 Cars, 1,000 Tracks (Fantasy & Real) & Weather in a the "Racing Sim game" but if you don't have your Simulation well calculated and precise the game its just another Racing Arcade Sim wanna B.

The majority of you don't know sh!t about how a well tuned a GT Racing car feel or even don't know how to drive yet. Its hilarious to me read comments against Forza and praising GT calling it a Real Sim when people that know about this stuff say the contrary. This is why i hate fanatics from PS land the most. I know there is a lot of jackass ignorant Xbox 360 fanatics out there but PS3 fanatics are the worst. How in the fnck you that don't have a fncking clue of how a GT Race car feel and handle can confirm that the simulation of GT is better than Forza? One doesn't need to be a weekend racer to know how a car is supposed to react under certain conditions and claiming to know more than everyone else just shows your shorted ignorance to racing in general.

I've raced GT cars and i've played Forza 1 and 2 while the physics in Forza was alil better before however with the improved physics in Prologue GT feels just right and edges out Forza for me.

Now thats my opinion if you don't agree fine but i don't hate you for it. Chill and enjoy Forza the rest of us will be playing GT5.
