Psxextreme.com teases 'Secret PS3' exclusive

Ben Dutka, Editor-in-Chief at Psxextreme.com, wrote an article yesterday about current and future PS3 exclusives that are 'system sellers'. Near the end of that article, he teased everyone about a 'secret PS3 exclusive' that he couldn't tell us about, but he gave hints throughout the comment sections. What could this title be? The Playstation 3 guy decided to jump on the case, has compiled all the clues and information and presented his guess of what the title could be.

there are no disclosure problems to say a title is a new ip but to say a title is an existing ip can create a lot of unwanted speculation.

when combined with the fact the game is a system seller can only mean that it is a sequel to existing ip.

I got laid off 2 months ago, and awaiting my severance package. But Video Games is my 4th priority. School is my number one, followed closely with helping my parents with work, helping my car club and doing websites and designing logos for certain car shops, and lastly if I get a chance play some PS360.

Obviously this is just my situation, but I think people who get laid off video games is probably one of their last priorities.

I am actually glad it is not the next Team ICO game ( my most anticipated game),because we already know it's coming,and now we get yet another game to join the AAA gaming fest...

LBP2 could be the game,but I get a feeling Media molecule are just going to keep on adding and growing with Downloadable content for awhile,however it could be some concept art shown from them on a new IP,but probably too early to be clarified as a bonafide AAA game......

Dark Cloud 3 is another I am hoping for...

Was talking about the 5 RPGs claiming they were Dark Cloud 3 and Legend of Dragoon 2. We know what Silogon said about the RPGs were fake.

But one of the Japanese Sony executives actually said they had like 5 games in the making to satisfy the JRPG thirst BEFORE Silogon jumped on the bandwagon claiming to know what they were.

Ben was apart of my focus back in Nov 08... It's an action game, very sylized style like DMC but gory like GOD of War... when I saw it just 2 weeks agofor the third time SCEJ revealed that it's 15 month off from release and that they are still in alpha stages.. it Looks good.. Part of the staff is from the 8 days team taht go shifted around for eyepet and home development when 8 days and getaway 3 got canned.. the animations system that was shown for 8 days last year after it got canned is being used for this game... you'll flip out when you see how good it looks. awesome stuff.

Wardevil has already been announced, so it can't be that game... but I do hope there is some new info on it soon.

I don't think the "Secret PS3 exclusive" is MGS5 because there were people seeing this game behind the scenes as early as February/March of last year, and I doubt Kojima Productions would have had something to show on MGS5 that early.

My guess is that it's a Brand new IP, or it's an IP that we might we haven't heard from in a little while this generation.

Nope. Ben Dutka wrote an article two hours ago (as of this post) about a FF7 remake. In that article he said "However, now that I've thought about it more - and now that it seems as if the possibility is non-existent" for a FF7 remake. Unless he's doing a devious job of covering his tracks, I'm guessing that's pretty much confirmation that it's not FF7.

Metal Gear Solid 5

Final Fantasy VII

out of all those games only Metal Gear Solid 5, Final Fantasy VII remake and Halo 4 will be consider system sellers. But if you narrow the list down, I would have to pick Final Fantasy VII remake. The author of psxextreme.com mention that everyone knows it exist and is waiting for an announcement. Final Fantasy VII remake seems like the only logical choice.

If it is something from Square, I hope it is KH3. I need something other than Final Fantasy, considering that we have 2 FF games coming out within a year (XIII and vsXIII). But that is my hope.

Now realistically, I can say that it probably won't be MGS5 because Kojima likes to take his time, Halo 4 (don't need to mention why that isn't it), FFVII is most likely not is because that team is currently still working on XIII, and Twisted Metal will not be a system seller (it's fun, but it is no Gran Turismo when it comes to selling).

To be honest I think Halo is definetly going to be whored out and will eventually lose everyones interest and there will be more ip's coming along that will take its crown, just like many have taken Doom's crown....Havent bungie already said they arent making any more Halo games after ODST? While I know it's highly unlikely that the FF7 remake will be announced anytime soon, if at all this generation, I can't think of many other games that fit his description. "We know it's a true-blue system seller. We know people have been waiting for the announcement...we know it exists...we know the confirmation is coming..." Many have been awaiting the announcement of FF7 for years, since everyone knows it's a matter of when it'll be released and what system it'll be on, not if. Kingdom Hearts 3 also fits most of the description, but I don't think it qualifies as a "system seller".

He accidentally let everything slip, and then when I spoke to the head of the studio, he said nothing had actually been announced and so I agreed to keep it under wraps until they were ready. I mean you guys are making games that sell alot into system sellers but fail to realize that there is big a difference. Take God Of War for example. When it debuted the Ps2 had an install base of what 80 million at the time. It sold very well. I mean it may have been popular amongst the people that already have the system but doesn't attract people to buy the system Examples include:

Ratchet & Clank

When you talk about system seller you are talking big time. You know Halo 4 and Gears 3 will move systems. You know Mario/zelda will move systems. I mean Killzone 2 was designed to be a system seller the jury is still out regardless of what 360 fanboys may say. So don't get popularity mixed up with a game being a system seller. I think that reason why Xbox is successful right now is because they realize this. I mean look at the million sellers and tell me that outside of Halo and Gears would you all consider a system seller for the 360. I mean take for instance a game like Crackdown. It maybe the most underrated game of this generation it sold over a million copies most people like it but it is not a system seller. Everything Sony releases it gets hyped up as a system seller when it is not.

The secret game is Twisted Metal for PS3.

There was hints about a long time ago and more hints in a Jaffe video. Everytime there is an announcement about these kind of things people stretch as if it is a huge announcement that one of their favorite games will be announced. Big announcements are usually disappointing (at least when they are from mediocre companies like Capcom & Square-Enix).

the XBUTT's say that we have no games yet if they take a good look at their lineup they'll realize that the 360's lineup is entirely made up of multiplat games, but the PS3's lineup for 09/10 are purely major exclusives, and at least us PS3 owners are playing the games we want, unlike you XBUTT's who just buy any old half-assed game and call it GOTY!

To which I cautiously offer: well, it definitely proved to be, the first time round.

The only other thing I can think that people have been waiting on in large enough numbers, is Twisted Metal; but that just doesn't have the sort of pedigree of FFVII - nor, does is, specifically, shift consoles. So, a return journey to Midgar, on the PS3 would be my guess.

Guys think about it, who remembers a just after gta iv was released there was speculation about the next gta being ps3 exclusive because rockstar and take 2 couldn't do everything they wanted to do due to the fact of xbox not having bluray and some xbox's dont have hdd's.

I really do believe its Final Fantasy 7 Remake all we know is that SE has been working on that bit by bit as they've been working on FFXIII and no one can say they can't be doing that cause none of us work for SE from what i know of. And if it is that they would want no one to know about it keep it looked away until its ready to be known.

SE also know that FF7 would sale more than FFXIII hands down.
also if they are able to be working on Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Complete what makes you think they couldn't be working on Final Fantasy 7 remake making sure its ready to come out straight after Final Fntasy XIII.

I'm glad some people are excited about this, but I'd also like to clarify that we really didn't go out of our way to "tease" anything. I merely included it at the end of one of our features concerning PS3 exclusives. But now that it's out, I'll leave you all with this-

1. I already answered this in the Comments section, but it is NOT the Team ICO project. I'm as pumped about it as anyone else - SotC remains one of my favorite games ever - but I really have no idea what they're doing.

2. The reason we won't just announce it is because, quite simply, we promised we wouldn't. They made a mistake in talking about it and I decided not to run with it.

3. I believe the game has already been in front of panels and groups, just so the developer can see what the gamers think of the project. I'd LIKE to think the announcement isn't far off.

4. It IS a title people will recognize. It has been in the news before.

And that's it. PLEASE don't e-mail me saying things like, "oh, I promise I won't tell" and blah blah blah. We're not going to make any announcement until the team is ready.
