I don't see why you feel it's only a marginal improvement upon the first one. Personally I think that looks much like COD4, I know it seems presumptious regarding that quality of video.

The lighting looked good and also the gun models looked good.
Looks like a big improvement, also the tree models looked pretty good too.

also I believe it was said a few months back the game was complete it's just down to pushing graphical assets to it.

@cwalat, i have as much faith in insomniac as you do, but from that video be it in sd or whatever it is, its only a marginal improvement over the first. No where near the graphical leap from R1 to ratchet. Obviously R2 should look like ratchet so in time the game will improve, not to mention this is multiplayer footage. In time we will see how it shapes up

Sonarus don't be silly. That video was clearly a multiplayer map gameplay and is hardly indicative of the game. I mean the points that blip on the screen after a kill were a dead giveaway.

You can tell enough from a crappy youtube video. Lighting, color, and animation all get across fine through youtube. The only thing that suffers is detail, which makes little affect on the end game compared to lighting, color, and animation(especially a game that looks as fast paced as that).

The environments look a lot better than the ones in the original. That's the one the biggest thing I took away from it. The squad combat I'm still not sure about. There's not much stopping a team from sending half of each it's squads to help take one objective while the others just defend another objective and have a group of 20 guys running around the map systematically taking points.

The worst part about it imo was the character animation. For some reason it always looks like people in resistance are sliding a little bit. I noticed the same thing in the first one. It just doesn't look right to me, but that's minor to gameplay.

The answers to these questions are, No Insomniac has NEVER disappointed or made an underdelivered game. Yes, Insomniac is responsible for the first Spyro on the PSX, the highly acclaimed Ratchet and Clank series on both the PS2 and PS3, and Resistance, which was, IMO, a phenomenal FPS. There is not a doubt in my mind that Resistance 2 will not only have a amazing story with an awesome 8 player co-op aspect to it, but it will also overdeliver on its 60 player mulitplayer. Resistance two will definitely win shooter of the year. Better than KZ2 and better than GeoW2.

The video quality was poor so a discussion on graphics is pointless, but am I the only one to feel like the gameplay is missing the wow factor of the first Resistance, the gameplay seemed generic. I know its a sequal and not as original as the first but I still feel kind of disappointed by the first gameplay video. I'm sure Insomniac will still come out with a quality product but so far MS and Epic are doing a better job getting me excited for Gears 2 compared to Sony and Insomniac for Resistance 2.

One is a 60 player open environment FPS game. The others a 16 player (max) 3rd person corridor shooter. Frankly comparing the graphics is pointless, Gears "should" look better (texture wise etc)

Did you know that Resistance and Gears both received a 9.5 on Game Informer? And Resistance is still thought to have superb graphics. As the first was a launch game, of course this will be much better. Gears on the other hand used all the 360s power and so the second can't be much better. This month is HAZE ECHOCHROME, WIPEOUT HD, next month is MGS4, September is SOCOM, October is LPB, and November is R:FOM 2. Now both videos are pieces of crap. And there's nothing to distinguish them from current shooters with both looking very similar to Call of Duty 4 in terms of frantic gameplay. Although Resistance seems to have a more UT3 pace to it. Problem is those games are already on the shelves and will have been for 12+ months when these titles finally come out.

Why aren't they pushing the 8 player coop in Killzone and the 60 player multi in Resistance? Why are the videos awful? Sony should be on top of this and should hurry the F up, because GoW2 will be it's main holiday competitor and it's gameplay trailer may well blow everyone away in three days!

Below I listed reviews from Gametrailers, Ign,Xplay and Gamedaily... with each one of them giving Resistance:FOM a 9 or higher and Xplay giving it a perfect score. Game Infomer gave BOTH Resistance 1 and Gears 1 a 9.5 rating.... IN THE SAME ISSUE... Same month... shows what they thought of the games... they are equal.

Yes its going to rock, 60 players online is a dream. Wars will be waged everyday 24/7. story was pretty poor in the original, but this one will have a much bigger focus on story

and i though Resistance was a very fun shooter, especially the co-op mode

regardless of video quality the poly counts look really low on everything. I'm sure they are showing footage of the multiplayer build built for testers where mechanics are more important. In terms of the scoring system, HUD, and pacing it looks like something that can get really competitive.

1. the video was sh*tty, below SD quality. the only thing i could make out in the vid clearly were pixels

2. the game is still roughly 6 months away from release. final polishing on any game doesn't happen until those last 3 months, when the gameplay bugs have been worked out, and they can fine tune the visuals

3. it was multi-player gameplay. no story, or campaign mode stuff here. the first Resistance had some excellent set-pieces, and extremely intense moments in the single player campaign.

4. it's INSOMNIAC, their worst games are still better than most average devs BEST.

calm down, you judgmental bastards, and, at the least, wait for some HD video, or better yet, some actual hands on time with the game.

how anybody can judge something, positively, or negatively, based off of a demo, or even someone else's word, is beyond me. if you're going to judge, at least wait for more data and information than a sh*tty, low quality, horribly pixelated vid off the internet of a product that is still 6 months away from release.

It still looks pretty good. Not going to make any full-on judgements until I see a better vid of course. But it's great to be a PS3 gamer. I'd of gotten a 360 if it wasn't for all these games coming out. That, and the fact that I had to send my PS3 in for repair, $150. And also I don't have the money to pay 5 bucks a month for XBL. Maybe XMas, or next year.

p.s. not saying I'm not getting a 360 because the PS3 has better games, but because I can't afford a 360 since I'd rather get games I've been psyched for since their announcement.

I like how everyone just keeps on repeating that it doesnt matter the video quality is bad. I agree but lets not repeat ourselves here, lets talk about some of the other stuff. I noticed someone earlier wrote about there doesnt seem to be much stoppping people from still just sending in half their squads to take an objective and half to defend. I think they will enforce this by making sure you do focus on your objectives to level up other wise you cant get xp.

What i am wondering is what if one of your squad sucks but the rest are good. Can you finish up your objectives and have another squad help out the weak one if their rival squad is just too badass for them?

Nonetheless, no matter how crappy this video looks, and how some people keep on making them look inferior to what they believe are better titles, R2 would still be a hit (especially for the early PS3 owners).
