Sony Boss Talks PSN Expansion

The PS3's start? Fairly close to disastrous. Things are slowly improving, though, and Sony chieftain Howard Stringer wants to ensure they keep improving. To that effect he's told News.com that the PlayStation Network will soon be expanded, after which Sony will finally begin distributing videos and other multimedia content straight to your PS3. Good news! Because if Microsoft can do it, you'd like to think Sony (who, you know...own both movie and music studios) can do it too. The article mentions a press conference Sony will be holding in two month's time, guess we'll find out more (or maybe even see it launched) then.

No matter what you do to them they bounce back. Think about it at the start of the PS3s life, Sony didn't break one sweat despite the negative news it had been receiving. The way I see it Sony was relaxing last year, they were fine the competition was getting ahead. well guess what you motherf**ka's have awoken the dragon. Now sony is about to unleash this beast on you b**ches , and it will have better hardware, software, and online service, and Sony as a company is releasing some off da chain sh*t as well. I'm sick of how even now fuked up fanboy sites like kotaku say things like "The PS3's start? Fairly close to disastrous."

We all know how many advantages XBox had its first year gained mainly from screw existing customers and we all know the disadvantages the PS3 had. And yet we all know PS3's 1st year outsold Xbox's 1st year.

Xbox is the first console in history (that survived) who sold less or the same in their 2nd year than their 1st and anyone that thinks that PS3 wont sell at least 10 million this year is delusional.

Drop the negative guys, its way old and frankly redundant and to be honest I dont care how many it sells. The fact the only people complaining about it dont own one makes it a success in my book.

Less talking Sony, and more action...oh wait...never mind, I forgot that the PSN is free. But I think that these change they are talking about have little to do with In game Messaging and what not, and more about adding new feature to the PSN. We might see a new look for the PSN store. Increase Friends list(up to 75-100).

A more stable chat connection. Because it doesn't really matter what my connection is, I can't seem to stay in a Chat for more than 2 minutes since the 1.5 update.

An update to the information bar. Up too now, the information bar is pretty much useless.

But one feature I really want is the ability to Record Live gameplay moments, and save them on our hard drive, then upload them to the internet, our home computer, or portable video players such as the psp or Ipod.

I totally agree with the fact that they NEED to upgrade the Information Bar, I mean...honestly, what the hell does it do? absolutely nothing that concerns me...and yes, they need to imrpove the PSN store, its pretty pathetic Sony...come on now...

I look forward to the expansion, but I want to see improvement. I have had PSN since May 2007 and have been fairly dissapointed. I definatley see it improving, but I am not looking for HOME to be a clincher for me. It seems like it will be a SIM, thats not my style, but it will definatetly appeal to people.

I really hope multi-disk PS1 games like Fear Effect and Final Fantasy make it to the PSN, but I doubt that's possible. I already have the games but I don't know how to use PSP emulation.

did you downgrade you psp and install a custom firmware? if not, then you will not be able to play your final fantasy game on your psp

That's the thing I really want to happen. I guess it was right for them to not tell us that they allowed remote play of ps1 disc games. it wasn't perfect and i guess when they do get it right then i'll be happy. but multi-disc game, they are most likely "thinking about it". anyways.

Really, 2008, Sony stepped up. time for the rest of the year ;o

I haven't tried remote play yet. I'd rather play my ps1 games on the PSP instead of a big screen TV. I really want to learn emulation so I can copy my friends PS1 library, which is worth a fortune.

I expect the big updates on playstation store in Spring 08 when HOME and the new controller comes out and also MSG4 and GTA IV. So it will be a big exciting spring for me and my fellow ps3 owners out there.

I had a PS1, and we were going through the same thing today... same for the PS2.. people complained about the price, and that it didnt have much to offer.... Now the PS2 is still selling to this date.

The PS3 will be no different, We'll definitely get our money's worth down the line. Plus Sony will have better download content Video wise compared to Microsoft's Xbox360... i mean who wants to download a Disney movie they've seen over a million times??

You forgot the PSP. The PSP is also on pace to sell 100 million units. To sell 100 million units all you have to do is sell well every where for around 5 or 6 years. PS3 is built to last longer than 6 years so it to will reach 100 million units.

PSP will last aslong as the PS3 is around because they go hand and hand. The PS3 is pretty much your PC tower, while your PSP acts as a laptop in a way. Remot play is awesome, and knowing that I can turn on my PS3 and download content from where ever I am on this planet is pretty darn amazing. Sure the gameboy is classic...

But let's be honest here, the PSP pwns any hand-held out. Simply because there's nothing new.

Let me tell you if you thought sales were amazing with the PS3 this Christmas just wait in a month or 2 when sales really jump.
Sony could of took the lead at anytime they just waited so they can develop more and not just beat them but destroy them in everything.

(and dont call me shirley) the psn is getting better. i personally enjoy the online multiplayer play for free the most but the store and ps3's features getting better just makes everything that much better! PS3 2008!
