Team Sonic after "something completely new" with 3D 'forward view' next-gen

The currently releasing Sonic 4 returns to those 2D view platform roots for the blue hedgehog, but Team Sonic boss Takashi Iizuka wants to go back to the "forward view 3D action".

He wants more Sonic Adventure type fun, but exploring "something completely new" in the 3D space. Next-gen Sonic will "always remain stylised" and not adopt realism - phew!

Something completely new huh...? I'm not against that, though I kinda wish for another Sonic Generations... That game restored my faith in Sonic. Mentioning Sonic Adventure though, that also gives me hope that maybe they'll make a 3? Despite the 3D sonic games being (mostly) glitchy and all, I absolutely loved the Sonic Adventure games, 2 even more than the original.

Very happy that Sonic returning to forward view only, I love 3D platforming and I never liked the 2D segments in the stages of Unleashed/Generations

Yeah I LOVED the sonic adventure games too. It was the reason why I got the dreamcast.

Something completely new... Forward view... looks like Sonic is the next to jump on the FPS bandwagon.

wouldn't be surprising. in one game he turned into a werewolf, in another he had a sword and shield, and lastly completely making his 'speed' irrelevant by putting him on a skateboard, lol.

First thing that popped into my head was Mirror's Edge: Green Hill Zone.

So basically sonic + tony hawk shred = next sonic 3d game?

On a more serious note i loved the sonic adventure games. hopefully its as good as the original two

If it goes in the direction of Sonic: Generations and Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 I'll be impressed.

Totally agree with number one.

I've probably played that game from start to finish at least 3 times. And don't get me started on the hours I spent in the Chao Garden ❤️

The First Levels of Sonic Games

Thatonevideogamer:
The idea where I thought I would compare the first levels of every big Sonic game but things get out of hand. After all, it’s not like the other levels are going to be better.
