If The Vita Were To Be Redesigned, What Would it Need?

Seeing slimmer models of each console come out within a certain amount of years later such as the PSone (PlayStation Slim), PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim, PSP Slim and PSP-Go and now, with the launch of the PlayStation Vita some people can argue that it is a pretty great launch for a portable device.

Though it is premature to talk about a redesign of the Vita at this very moment, and this question goes out to customers who finally have their hands on one and those who think the Vita can be improved;

What would you like to see in changed or redesigned in the PlayStation Vita?"

Being thinner doesn't hurt, honestly I love the design of the Vita. It fits very nicely in your hands. Something I think Sony did a great job with.

I would add R2, L2 triggers and clickable analog sticks. then it would perfect.

2GB memory would be great to supplement the memory card, but the 3D just doesn't seem like it would be great despite sony's hard stance on pushing 3d products. the market just is not there for it and it's not a deal maker for the 3DS in my opinion.

3D is for use 'now and then' in my case, I don't want my portable console, phone etc. to be 3D. That's just too much.

i doubt the 5 inch oled touch screen which is already pretty expensive has the framerate for shutter 3d

I guess at this point, all that's left is glasses free 3D to compete directly with the 3DS.

Personally I think Sony should focus on tackling Apple though.

Honestly I thought about this very topic and realized right away that a remodel is not going to happen anytime soon. This realization caused me that same day to go out and purchase the 3g version, which I will not be activating till necessary, but at least I hve the option.
Unlike the 3ds, which has a very obvious design flaw, no second analog stick. Along with the other flaws of switch placement and the raised touchscreen that scratches my top screen. Needless to say, I traded in my beta 3ds and currently await the remodel.

That's true, but 60 GB of flash memory is pretty darn cheap. They could make a core version at $250 and the 60 GB at $300. I would have bought that in a heartbeat over the 3G version.

give it the same form factor as the PSP GO, 16GB internal storage, android OS + PSN access would open it up to a hell of alot more people

let it make phone calls and it suddenly competes against the 3DS and Iphone and has a good shot at beating them both

the funny part is sony are the only ones capable of this, nintendo have no presence in the cell phone market and apple impose to many restrictions on them selves

You can call people from skype on the vita. At least that's what Skype says. When I asked sony they said no. We'll see when the skype app comes out. I already cancelled my phone service and threw my phone away. Ya know... just in case.

Microsoft owns Skype now. I don't think we'll be seeing it on the Vita. :/

having it the same form factor as the go wouldn't work very well. some of the uses for the back touch panel is meant to immerse the player by having it line up with the front screen, like in little deviants where you sometimes "pinch" the landscape with both the front and touch. this gesture wouldn't make sense if the touch panels didn't line up would it?

I just got one today.. its awesome! But would like an option to replace the battery when it begins to fade over time.

The battery is no harder to replace than the ds3. There's a teardown online that gave the system an 8/10 for ease of replacing components.

Bigger battery and one that Isnt so picky to charge. I'd settle for the same size battery if I could charge it via USB (on more devices) without having to turn it off.
Other than that the thing is pretty perfect as-is. The only thing it needs now is more games (especially good RPGs. Skyrim, anyone?)

-The ability to log in to multiple psn accounts not really a physical flaw but Damn i wish it had it!

anyway, the 5" touch screen made the dpad/buttons small. The L1/R1 kind of looks funny.

L2/R2 are on the back via the reverse touch surface.

Rumble would do a lot of harm to the overall size and likely require a ton of work to get to work without affecting other electronic elements (controllers don't have to worry about screens, GPUs, CPUs, cameras, and similar elements).

I don't know. These are pretty darn good. Then again, you can adjust the tightness of the sticks on the Razr Onza. That wouldn't be a terrible idea for all manufacturers to include.

Release it in different colors and bundle it with a headphone/ headset unit.
