VGW: Day 1 Studios is returning to its mech stomping roots with the development of Reign of Thunder as a free-to-play title for the PC. When we first saw the trailer for the new title, our hearts and mind immediately hearkened back to the good old MechAssault days on the original Xbox. We immediately got in contact with Creative Director/Executive Producer TJ Wagner who gave us the low down including why it is free-to-play and what the games’ mechs have to do with Detroit.
Gamesta.com gets a ton more news from Wargaming. They're preparing a worldwide assault with a 15th office to open in Tokyo. They're also updating their online accessibility and even got a new console title in the works. It's being made by Day One, makers of F.E.A.R. and such. They're working on a MechAssault title right now.

Today I have a very special Free Game Friday for you guys. What makes it special is that it includes five games, and they are all of the mech genre. It’s really rare for a mech game to get made lately, let alone to have them all be free to play. 2012 is really going to be a great year for mech games, with one of them playable already and the rest soon to come.
