Something is pretty odd about this? Doom is considered to be futuristic. Why would it look modern like what I am seeing in these screenshots? Maybe they was trying to reboot the series again? As of right now I don't believe this until Id make a statement. Its a rumor like always lol!!!

Update: My bad thought it was canceled, but still don't believe this is Doom 4.

MasterD9194442d ago

I don't think those pics are Doom 4 either.

It may be related to Bethesda's new game Dishonored.

Im a bit leery about it too, but i feel that this could, maby, just a little be justified by a mine level. But that seems to be a stretch based on doom 3.

SweatyFlorida4442d ago (Edited 4442d ago )

I sure hope not. Too much gray and not digging the daytime pics, just not enough red/metal like in previous Dooms *I miss Mars*!

Truthfully I think ID should take a tip or two from Killzone 2 as that had the perfect "Dark" futuristic setting.

Biohazard88604442d ago

It could be a Doom game on earth.....

ritsuka6664442d ago (Edited 4442d ago )

I agree, after Doom 3 i not care about this series anymore...

below@

Overall,I'd call Doom 3 it a "ok" game, but not a great one.Just my opinion..

Perjoss4442d ago

But you still care enough to make this post.

Vynzent4442d ago

Heh, not caring about the series after Doom3 show reall stupidity.

FF13 sucks balls, and yet I haven't stopped caring about FF. I know at some point a good one will be released... maybe, at some point possibly.

BlackFalcon4442d ago (Edited 4442d ago )

Because old FPS developers trying to return to their glory days of 10-15 years ago are all the "Rage".

NYC_Gamer4442d ago

I don't have high hopes for Doom 4 after all the crap that's been produced by ID these last few years

Saladfax4441d ago

Honestly, if they'd just hire a few decent writers and mechanics designers, they could turn themselves from tech developers into a real game company.

I respect their skill when it comes to pushing new visual ideas, but they really haven't done much in gameplay or story, pretty much ever.

What's cool is you can see some of the animations they kept and revised for 2016.

nirwanda1223d ago

When you strip everything back you can really see how great the animation is.
It's amazing how far games have come.

glenn19791223d ago

For me its always interesting to see some prototype of a game of something else and see the final product on why they go another direction in the end

RaidenBlack1223d ago

My favorite is the MGS:Rising vs MGR:Revengeance.(I preferred the Kojima's one)
Another interesting one is Splinter Cell Conviction Concept vs Retail

spicelicka1223d ago

I don't see what is "COD-like" here? Just because there's 2 seconds footage with ironsight?

Concertoine1223d ago

The devs were openly going for the cinematic shooter style that was popular in the years this was developed. COD-like Doom was pretty much the pitch.

Fluke_Skywalker1223d ago

Looks pish, no wonder it got canned.

Every Doom Game Ever

Whilst the FPS genre has since had a tonne of fantastic franchises, such as Quake, Unreal and Serious Sam, Doom remains at the top of the pile, and has one of the best comeback stories in video game history. Doom is almost 30 years running, and has even bled into other mediums such as feature films and novels. As it has been going for so long, there have been a large number of entries in the series, and there are probably a few you never played. This is every Doom game ever.

Why Development Stopped On DOOM 4

According to ID Executive Producer Marty Stratton, DOOM 4 was scrapped because "it was more 'DOOM' in name than really anything."

Dabigsiebowski1525d ago

Because they wanted to punish John Carmack.

AK911525d ago

From reports apparently Doom 4 was shaping up to be COD but set in the DOOM universe, honestly really glad that didn’t happen.

Profchaos1525d ago

Pretty much they wanted to make it to meet what was selling at the time and in doing so it lost the soul of what makes doom doom.

MadLad1525d ago

Even Doom 3 did that, despite being a solid game all the same. Not mind blowing, in my opinion, but a solid title.

Segata1525d ago

Because it was Call of Duty with generic demons on Earth. Looked worse than the 2009 Wolfenstein. They made the right call.
