Top 20 software Wii - 7 games (5 exclusives)
Xbox 360 - 6 games (2 exclusives)
PS3 4 games (1 exclusive)
Whatever happened to that fable that PS3 exclusives sell less because they are spread out? This chart shows xbox 360 software 8 million units ahead of PS3 software for 2011 and over 90 million ahead overall (maths never lies, ever!! Not even if there's a fire!)
In a year that PS3 had more games available, X360 sold more games in total.
Overall attach rates are as follows:
Xbox 360 - 9,34 games per console
PS3 - 8,36 games per console
In lamen's terms, the average Xbox 360 owner buys more games than the average PS3 owner.
Lastly, in the Top 100 for 2011 there are 9 Xbox 360 exclusives and 8 PS3 exclusives.
Well then, how about that? I thought more exclusives meant more exclusives sold? Clearly not huh?

I bought a 360 last year around holiday time and now it's just sitting there collecting dust. I only bought Gears 3 for it. I let my 4yr old play. I'm been playing on my ps3 way more.

I'd actually like to know who said more exclusives = more sales per title. And only one of the two 360 exclusives you mentioned in the Top 20 isn't a pack-in title (Gears of War 3).

Frankly, I'd prefer to play the many (core) exclusives offered, rather than trying to 1-up forum goers on meaningless debates - or bragging about who's exclusives sold more, as you gain zilch from such a victory.

Here is what Microsoft and Sony Both released during CES this year. Everyone has such short memories. You would think VGChartz would update their numbers, but I guess they don't want to admit their wrong.

"Microsoft reports on having sold over 66 million Xbox 360s with Sony close behind at 62 million as of January 2012."

Keep in mind that VgChartz tracks sold-to-consumer. PS3 is the true winner of 2011.

the 360 software numbers for the year are a few million ahead of the PS3 because every 360 with Kinect was bundled with Kinect Advenetures.

8,080,625 Kinect Adventures sold(bundled). So lets subtract that from the 2011 total and find out the real number!

155,606,506 - 8,080,625 = 147,525,881.
So a statistical tie with the PS3 software sales for the year.

All companies bundle their hardware with software. So this argument is pure damage control.

what happened to the VGC was founded by a Xbox fanboy talk. Shipment shows a clear picture of Xbox winning over PS3 but now PS3 is the true winner thanks to VGC... awesome N4G, just awesome.

So Sony and Microsoft lied in their own financial reports, huh? The numbers directly from both companies that clearly show the 360 outselling the PS3 worldwide in 2011 with the gap back up to 3.8 million lifetime globally. While you believe the single, solitary source that shows the PS3 selling more based off of their ESTIMATES (which have a history of being way off track). Talk about grasping for straws. You're just going to have to face the fact that the 360 sold more in 2011. The PS3 led in 2009 and 2010, and now it's the 360's time to shine. Stop living in denial and give the 360 the props it deserves for a change.

Maybe because they thought that the 360 would sell more than it did in 2010 (Which it didn't btw. 3.4 million from Nov and Dec in the US. Was the console with the least hardware sales in EU and other countries as well).

Edit: I also find your comment above this very hypocritical too. VGC posts that the Xbox360 led in software, it's "BELIEVE! BELIEVE! Numbers don't lie" But when VGC posts that the PS3 led in hardware literally in the same article. "BS! You guys believe them now?"

Dude there is no sources supporting the 360 outsold the ps3. Those numbers we saw before where dealing with shipped numbers. VG does sold to consumer. I don't like VGcharts but even still there numbers are still accurate when it comes down to who's leading

Wow! Skyrim numbers on the 360 are huge for a single player game that is available on most systems. The sales are about to pass Gears. That is great for a sigle player game that requires so much of one's time.

On the side note: How come no one required these numbers to be submitted are "RUMOR" and why are PS3 guys accepting what they call "fake numbers"?

The quarterly reports for the past year show that the 360 outsold the PS3 for the entire year of 2011 by 800,000 units.

First Sony faithful were spinning this saying that the numbers don't count because Sony's fiscal year isn't complete.

Now the same VGChartz site that Sony faithful have claimed to not be accurate because they use estimates is now a credible source because it shows the PS3 selling more than the 360 for the calendar year of 2011?

Both sides are guilty of it at one time or another.
I always seem to find that 360 diehards rant on about destroying everybody else in the sales numbers when there's usually very little difference.

I find it easier to let them have their fun and wear themselves out. In the meantime I'll go ahead and play games not financial reports.
