The PS3 bombs.

My advise to Sony. Make good games about the concepts that are hot right now or that people care about.

People right now like futuristic shooters, zombies, horror, street crime. This games theme was too cheesy in my opinion.

dnt speak for all of us some of us prefer different genres and dnt like to remain in the same saturated "futuristic shooter" market that the rest of you bask in. Maybe sony needs to ramp up the advertising however it is very important to note that these are sales for 1 day. A little dissapointing for 1st day sales but nonetheless you have to give it a full week before passing judgement

This isn't because the game is bad, Uncharted is definitely one of the best games on PS3 now, it's just that it hasn't been marketed much in UK, I haven't seen one ad on TV so how will it sell?

It isn't a big secret that the 360 has the highest games attach rate. It sells more software than the Wii and the PS3 combined.

This website is funny sometimes. The legion of Sony zealots that infest it are always claiming Blu-ray's victory when it comes to disk/software sales.

Uncharted was released on Friday the 7th, aswell as Singstar. This chart stops on the 8th. Although the software sales for the PLAYSTATION 3, in my opinion, have been very disappointing it is unfair and criminal to slant off Uncharted and the PLAYSTATION 3 with such a cheap headline.

A person above me said the same thing, yet was disagreed with which gives a suggestion of the people involved with this article. But I suppose with the lack of negativity surrounding Sony's console as of late, desperate measures to try and mock it and dismiss it because of people's insecurities, or abnormal personal hatred for Sony, have resulted in desperately cheap tactics.

Ratchet & Clank bombed and although I don't expect Uncharted to make an impact with sales, we should wait to judge by at least giving it a week instead of 24hours. This is such a stupid submission it is unreal. Mass Effect dropped from 16th last week, to 38th yet Uncharted is considered to have "bombed".

Usually the games that don't do well are usually the best like for example Okami and Suikoden series. Legendary games but they bombed in the charts.

I am getting this game for Christmas and it looks great even if it fails most charts give a week before they are placed on a top 40.

Although I made a defence in my earlier comment, I am disappointed yet again to see the PLAYSTATION 3 making any dents into the top 10 of video games, despite hardware sales being a few thousand behind the Xbox 360. Xbox 360 owners certainly are gamers with their impressive software attachment ratio. So for a PLAYSTATION 3 perspective, Uncharted being the highest selling game despite it only being introduced for 24 hours, is abysmal.

But looking at the top selling games, it seems this holiday, price is what matters most in the UK, with the PLAYSTATION 2, Nintendo DS and Wii dominating the big spots in the chart.

From Sony's point of view, they're riding the success of the PLAYSTATION 2 as their latest console isn't obviously in a state where it can drive its sales. But ironically, the sheer popularity for the PLAYSTATION 2 is probably damaging sales of the PLAYSTATION 3. And it doesn't seem like Sony is prepared to take a risk by downplaying their best selling console, to put the PLAYSTATION 3 into a position where it can take over.

Once again another intelligent post via you. I do agree, the attach rate has been iffy, but look at some of the top sellers. Mario & Sonic? I have a Wii, but c'mon, that game is crap, even compared to solid casual/family ware like Mario Party. Consumers are a fickle bunch who buy what they are told to by advertisements more often than not. It's disappointing, because true gems like Ico and Psychonauts are totally overlooked for the next Madden or Halo (not saying they are bad titles).

I just wonder which direction sony was trying to take with the 40gb lack of BC. Will most gamers look at it as a reason to upgrade to ps3, or a reason not to. I know price is one of the biggest factors, but to say that the ps2 isn't eating into ps3 sales would cetainly be wrong. Although lack of BC in the 40gb sucks for current ps2 owners, it was probably a good business choice by sony. Because sony loyalists on a budget probably wouldn't have any qualms about the 40gb BC. One thing is certain, sony is still banking on name recognition. 360 could easily be someones choice for a new console, because it still has the better price and larger game library.

I'm quite happy to discuss PS3 software sales, you can read my opinions above, I have no problem with this story - I was about to submit it myself, but if anyone should be blamed or criticised here, is the one who submitted this story in this form, and those who approved it.

This story is negative towards the PS3 but its just reporting facts so there is no reason to reject it. What did I do? I commented about the poor PS3 sales because they're atrocious.

Well, Mass Effect after one day of sales debuted at 16, while Uncharted after the same time debuted at 23. To me, they are both flops (1st day sales constitute 50% - 70 % of total first week sales, rule of thumb). We will see how much Uncharted drops after next week to have a more accurate comparison.

That aside, the 360 had 11 titles in the top 40 while the PS3 had only 5. I don't see anyone commmenting about that.

Rule of thumb for any month but december. correct usually as game comes out and everybody gets it. xmas people make a list and a lot of games are sold this week. If its not in the top 10 (single format not going to be no 1) next week its a bomba.

Uncharted and mass effect will balance out well on sales, i have both and they are excellent.

Uncharted will do just fine... 1 day of sales at 23... think of 7 days on the charts. It'll top out at 100,000 at the end of the year for the uk alone. Bank it. Uncharted is already near 300,000 world wide in sales, so why demonise it anymore?
