Game Informer - X-COM didn’t change the world. In fact, even if you were a gamer throughout the early ‘90s, it’s possible the game flew under your radar. However, this science fiction strategy title quickly developed a cult following and is widely considered one of the best turn-based strategy titles of its era. With 2K Games’ upcoming series reboot, this is the perfect time to look back at this innovative game that almost didn’t see the light of day.
Dying or losing in video games is part and parcel of the experience and accepted as an occupational hazard. But some games take it way too far.

Permadeath gaming has seen a huge resurgence over recent years. Giving players a single life or character with which to complete the game, games with permanent death as a mechanic are notoriously difficult, tasking players with keeping upmost concentration throughout their playthrough. More often than not, attempts may end in tears – but that won’t stop players from trying their hand once more.
I bought X-com from K-bee toys for twenty bucks in the day for the ps1. I loved the game and later bought it for the pc and no longer played the ps1 version. I checked ebay one day and seen that X-com was going for over 100.00 used and I quickly sold it. X-com can still be purchased from steam and I think its one of the greatest games ever made.
