Enough Already; The Nintendo 3DS is Not Failing

The 3DS is a great system. I got mine on day 1, and i havnt regretted a single moment.
There are some amazing games on it, and more are still to come. Its getting more and more popular every week.

I was and still am, very tempted to buy one.
And I am primarily a PlayStation gamer, not a fan boy just that I grew up with them and am therefore most comfortable with their layouts and stuff.

But the great thing about growing up with PlayStation is that all these 3D re releases on the 3DS are in essence, entirely new games to me. Which is more than can be said for the PSP which was pretty much ports of games I had been playing for years before.

The 3DS isn't failing, but it sure ain't soaring, either. And I sure don't want to buy one...yet. There just aren't enough games to justify a purchase, and I have a hunch that Nintendo is going to do a rebrand/hardware revision soon that includes dual analog sticks.

People want to see successful people/companies fail. Nintendo has been on fire this past generation, so its detractors really want to see it fall down. Such is the way of every industry.

My hate for the system comes from the thing scratching itself when closed...That and I haven't seen any games worth playing aside from Zelda: OoT and Star Fox 64, which I am mildly enjoying.

What people seem to be fotgetting is that none one of the 3 big names in the gaes industry are or have failed this gen. I remember when the 360 was due to come out and people said it would not take off it will sell less than the ps3 ect yet it is selling very well out sold the 1st xbox and sells more multi platform games then the ps3.
Then people said the wii had no chance against the ps3 or 360 yet its out sold hem both and still selling well in its 5th year.

Then you have the ps3 with its high price no gaes on release and 360 saes high they said it was a flop and would never sell well yet its now into its 5th year and the console is selling very well matching and beating he 360 in some parts of he world amd only about 4 million behind the 360 now.

Then there was he ds and psp people said the psp will walk all over the ds but it was the other way tound the ds sales were amazing so they then started to say the psp was a flop but something like 60 million sold is not a flop.

Now we have he 3ds and psv none of them will be a flop he fact that the 3ds is out selling the ds in its first year and only getting some big names 9 months after release how can you say it will be a flop and thw psv i still dont think will out sell the 3ds but it will out sell what the psp did in its life time.

What people need to see now is hat all 3 of them have a game plan that are all different but the consoes offerer different experiences which now means here is room for 3 names in the console market as where in gens before it there was not much difference in what the consoes would do over the other so it hampered here sales this gen has been alot different to the other and long may it carry on.

If the Xbox or Gamecube failed, we wouldn't have seen the 360 or the Wii. Did they undersell, yes...Fail, no.

People forget the reason why this started, it was because the 3DS had zero good games out for it. Just now they are coming out with some Mario games.

I be like the NES coming out with something else and not Super Mario Bros.

It had good games, just not a lot of them. What it lacked was a reasonable price point and at least on GREAT game.

With the circle pad pro being sold exclusively through gamestop in the us and all compatible games utilizing it as an option and not a necessity it doesn't seem like a built-in second stick is a direction Nintendo is going in, or a necessary one.
That's not to say there definitely won't be such a revision, but it is looking increasingly more unlikely, and would be quite far off if it were to happen. (Fall '12~spring '13 timeframe)

The only reason it was a fail is because of the poor lineup and because it did not seem like a next gen handheld. Only after nintendo cut the price by 80$ did it start to pick up (33 percent cut which is a lot for a launched product so in that sense no it is not successful).

If it was successful nintendo would not have neede dto make the price cut simple as.

Just waiting for the Kingdom Hearts game to release, and the second it does I will have a 3DS.

On that note, I think a lot of people are in a similar mindset, they are either waiting for "that" game such as Metal Gear 3 for example, or the inevitable redesign model. I dont think its in trouble / failing, I just think maybe it released a bit too early... Actually this deserves use of the overused term, "rushed".

This article is a few weeks late. The 3DS is doing fantastic and anybody who is saying other wise is not paying attention to sales figures. Super mario 3DS land, Mario Kart 7, and Shinobi have been great for me. Not to mention the 10 free games GBA games are fantastic. Next year there is Resident evil and Kid Icaris early next year.

My son have a DS lite, DSi XL, and 3DS. No the 3DS will not fail, it's just not for serious gamers.

In regards to sales, it's a success because there's plenty of kids, girls, and moms that will buy a 3DS over PSP/Vita.

Other than resident evil and metal gear the 3DS lineup looks like the cartoon network

What do you consider a "serious gamer" somebody or games where there is shooting and blood? Cause Mario 3-D land is just as challenging as Metal Gear or Resident Evil. I don't consider games that have a M on the box for more serious gamers. Assassin's creed would fit your description for a serious game and it is one of the easiest games out there. A kid could easily beat that game. Where as beating a game like Mario 3D Land special world is much more challenging and serious.

Nintendo is like Disney with Toy Story or Lion King, it's really made for kids and family, and yes adults will enjoy it too.

Serious games as not the same Mario, Zelda, star fox games for the last 20 years with the same GameCube/n64 graphics. Every generation Nintendo has the same cartoony games forever. Also really mii's are lame and Nintendo need to stop focusing on that mii crap and that crap 3d pokedex and street tagging crap. That's so childish and they need to focus on the games and real 3ds features.
