However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.
Still a good game though.
Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5
2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me
3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best
Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...
5, 3, 1, 4, 2.
I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.
But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me
This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
Two Devil May Cry games have been delisted on Steam. As shared on X, formerly Twitter, by Wario64, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition and Devil May Cry 4 are no longer available to purchase.
Bless the adorably all digital future! When it comes to PC games its not as big of an issue because there should always be another way to access single player games, but still, I hate to see anything get delisted.
Well, DMC4 special edition has a lot of issues to run from Steam.
I have to get a modded executable to even be able to run the game on Windows 10.
Not sure if it is because the game runs in DirectX10 or what, but it sucks they have not even tried to fix it.
DMC4 Special Edition is not delisted, it was just the standard version, it has nothing to do with issues of performance or anything alike. Its just that Capcom probably do not want to sell the standard version, neither the standalone DMC3 version.
Devil May Cry 4 launched 15 years ago today, bringing with it new character Nero. Has it stood the test of time?
Never liked it and I think I got it day 1.
Cheap Capcom design of half a game that you have to walk through twice.
5 isn't much different in that department. Encounter the same boss three times with three different characters? Endless warehouses or alien-like tunnels that all look the same.
I'm actually with you there, but DMC has that terrible writing. Alex Garland isn't it?
Gorgeous visuals. That looks amazing. Another game to my list for 2008.
Have a strange feeling that this game is going to disappoint on both console versions....I mean visuals wise...gameplay wise...and story line wise....does it really live up to the Next-Gen stamp? or does it just look like a polished up Devil May Cry 3??
Im looking forward to this game...Visuals look top notch..and to guy above this game won't dissapoint..from what i've seen...
I'm still looking forward to this. I'm not one of the PS3 owners that because the game is going to the "other" console I will cut my nose off to spite my face. Game looks really nice from an action game fan point of view. I've been needing something like this after finishing Master Ninja mode on Gaiden Sigma.
Can't wait for this to come out, just as long as they keep it in tune with DMC1/3 and stay away from DMC2 there should be no probs.
Hey King I wont be an ass because maybe you don't know, but why don't you do everyone a favor and update this article to include the 360 version of this game. Most people will miss this because it's only under PS3 news.
