Bloody Screen, So Real! Epic Games Didn't Only Think Of Call of Duty

Do you remember Duty Calls? Do you remember the epic slogan "bloody screen, so real!"? PC Games shows you that Epic Games didn't only have Call of Duty in mind!

Get that red shit off my screen.

Calm Down Sunshine4590d ago

Half the things they mocked Call of Duty for they had in Bulletstorm...

Ayepecks4589d ago

Such as? They mocked the bloody screen, the fake "realism", the out-of-place collectible system that had no impact on gameplay, the ranking of every little thing you do in multiplayer, the slow motion parts, the boring and cliched enemies, etc.

Here's a refresher if you're forgetting: http://www.joystiq.com/2011...

I'm not saying Bulletstorm was an amazing game or anything, but I don't see what you're claiming. Bulletstorm ended up being a fairly good game that got old quick, but the criticisms they pointed out were pretty spot-on.

Is google translate not working for anyone else? It just keeps translating, finishing, translating, finishing, etc.

TopDudeMan4590d ago

I'm going to say a bunch of things that further progress the story.

I am a paratrooper because this is a real-life war scenario.

You picked up a meaningless stick. Congrats.

I have deep, gravelly voice. Therefore I am leader, of bad guy.

I wonder what Infinity Ward did with the guy responsible for Modern Warfare 2's bloody screen. Hopefully they stuck something similar into his eyeballs and he accidentally walked over a cliff, because it easily takes the cake as the most obnoxious "blood screen" of all time.

Duty Calls - Epic Games' Forgotten Call of Duty Parody

Back in 2011, Epic Games and People Can Fly launched a Call of Duty parody - Duty Calls - that has been lost to the annals of history.

"Duty Calls: The Calm Before the Storm" sounds more like a massive case of the sh**s. 😂

I saw the parody mention, and half expected the ability to drop a deuce on your opponent... I left disappointed.

Never too much Taco Tuesday!! Now if only we could just achieve eternal Taco Tuesdays without the inevitable Wipe-It Wednesdays!!! 😂😂

Call of Duty parody takes the easy way out of a fight it can't win

People Can Fly are promoting their upcoming Bulletstorm with Duty Calls, a parody of the most popular first-person shooter series around. It makes a lot of good points, but it totally fails to make a valid argument about why you should buy Bulletstorm.

choadley4843d ago

Eh, it did it's job. It's not like every day a developer would create an entire level, even a rudimentary one, to stick it to another game.

violents4843d ago

"Duty Calls fails at making a fair contrast and instead focuses purely on stirring controversy for easy publicity."

Which you are giving them. If you dont like it stop writing articles about it, hence giving them more free publicity.

Oxymoron0284843d ago

Basically this boils down to Call of Duty fanboys having their feelings hurt as people point out the Call of Duty franchise is, and has been, utter wank for a long time.

Chas_Guidry4843d ago

I actually discuss in the article how I agree with all the criticisms. This has nothing to do with "having my feelings hurt" and everything to do with a developer either misunderstanding what its game is trying to accomplish or making a cheap jab at a more successful franchise that isn't its direct competition.

VladimirK4843d ago

"This has nothing to do with "having my feelings hurt""

Sorry but I'm getting that same vibe throughout the whole article of it's just you upset about that someone dares ridicule CoD in such a brazen fashion.

To be honest, it just sounds like a CoD fanboy that can't spot that People Can Fly are just having a laugh and missing this humour, you rush to defend your beloved CoD by making a petty argument that, "People Can Fly took the easy way out by choosing not to parody the series' obvious selling point".

Even the last sentence about not giving Bulletstorm a second thought after returning to CoD seemed like the sort of silly crap that you see fanboys, (regardless of affiliation), saying just to try and defend whatever they like.

Again, just to state it with regard to the comment I'm replying to: It was a joke. It was actually pretty funny but not when you try and take it at more than face value and especially not when you apparently don't even care that it is just a joke and still launch an attack on it for not focusing on the CoD multiplayer.

Oxymoron0284842d ago

You took up the chance to respond to the game. You clearly feel hurt by it else you wouldn't of taken the time out to comment on a game made soley for satire purposes.

Kon4843d ago

They're clearly using CoD weak points like boredom, weak level design, etc to promote their own product, i don't see nothing wrong with this

ugabugaz4843d ago

I don't care what Duty Calls tried to do. It made me laugh, and really that's awesome. I wouldn't mind actually having a game like Duty Calls, being released as a full title. Make fun of a few more commonly used FPS tactics etc, should be a riot if done right. All this seriousness lately has just taken some of the fun out of gaming.

Mottsy4843d ago

That was pretty funny and i agree. it would be nice to see a game like this. Reminds me of Conkers bad fur day. And that was a decent game and took jabs at a few topics including certain games.
