Fable 2 Dev Team: "We Are Not Cancelled"

Responding to the rumor that Lionhead's Fable 2 might be the "big Microsoft first party title" that is getting cancelled, two Lionhead dev team members have separately posted in the official community.

The Bag, a Lionhead dev team member and forum moderator: "No, we are not canceled."

Sam, another dev team member, added: "It's not Fable 2, I can tell you that much."

Alan Wake: "Microsoft is just the publisher and does not own our IP. so Microsoft can't exactly 'cancel' us. Technically, it's not a Microsoft 'first party' title. If they can, we'll just go to another publisher."

Fable 2: "No, we are not cancelled."

So, now there are two likely candidates left... Banjo Kazooie 3 and Too Human.

Banjo Kazooie 3 because I conjecture Rare has pulled dev members from that project and transferred them over to working on the rumored Perfect Dark 2. Microsoft is not getting another Halo FPS in the next two to three years, and they desperately needs a huge FPS to fill in the void. So the next FPS champion for Xbox will have to be Perfect Dark 2. Microsoft wants Rare to put in 110% effort into Perfect Dark 2 and make it a big hit. (And I think if Rare fails to deliver again with Perfect Dark 2, it's likely Microsoft will shut them down.)

Too Human because the project has turned into a disaster: the project has gone overbudget and dragged on for too long, and Silicon Knights (the developer) is suing another Microsoft's third-party developer Epic. It's getting out of control and unmanageable. So Microsoft has likely decided to put an end to the fiasco (and never to work with Silicon Knights again.)

I was thinking Banjo Kazooie 3, or Fable 2 also. Im not sure if either is a First Party Title though. The only First party games I know that Microsoft owns is the Halo games and Bungie is on there way out. Where can I find a list of First Party Games for the Xbox 360.

Not Too Human. That game is planned as a trilogy and the first part seems about done. As I said before, most things lean towards it being Banjo Threeie.

its not too human Ms doesnt own the IP and SK arent first party. also they just had a big media event a couple weeks ago, and the press came away very impressed. so why would they cancel it after such positive feedback?

It is also not Banjo Kazooie3, because that is just ridiculouse for Rare not to make it...because they have something to prove. The only game that I will see as a first-party developer being canceled under Microsfot Games Studios IS.....drumrolllsss.....HALO WARS. Thats RIGHT...maybe its for financial reasons, or they need more workers on another certain game...like Fable2 or Peter Molyneux's other project known as the "Dimitri Project"(which is B.C., not canceled, just suspended).

its epic m8 the first one was one of my fav computer games of all times.
its only flaw was that it was too short and linear Hopefully this one will be longer and more open. That and they better do has good of a job with the pc port has they did the first time none of that windows live crap or vista bs...

Too much talk has been going on about Too Human of late (getting it out the door and it almost being finished with the millions poored in the title) I'll be suprized if its Too Human my money is on Banjo.

most game combat uses two buttons for heavy attack and light attack and they make one button do both based on how you push it i believe. the combat looks better than oblivions boring combat and will probably be better than oblivion.

Marvel wouldn't be a first party game. I guess we will have to wait and find out. I do believe that the 1up guys really do know something and wouldn't jeopardize there reputation by starting this rumor if it had no merit.

From Realtime worlds- The makers of Crackdown. It was suppose to be an Online MMO with a cop and robbers twist. I haven't heard much about that since it was first announced.

there was something about it a couple months ago on kotaku. when they were RTW was asked about crackdown 2 they said MS was too late in asking and they were busy with APB and another game.

10.1 its no huxley. they are in open beta testing right now.

Nice to hear =) Huxley looks great I think. So no Crackdown 2? Maybe it goes multiplatform. Loved the first one. I hope it's the Peter Jackson Halo project. Halo 3 and Halo Wars are more than enough.

A rumor that started on N4G.com yesterday, on a Saturday. I wish these people were more professional, do they come to this site or what? I mean it takes Lion Head a day to respond to rumors brought up on N4G.com on a Saturday?

Why don't you guys just ask any questions you have for developers and they will respond the next day. I find it striking how we get responses to rumors so fast. It's just weird.

We get fast responding rumors from Lionhead because, they are really involved with the community, and also the fact that a member was the one who made a thread and brought this to the devs attention. Lionhead is more professional than most of the game developers around. I doubt that they come on this site, as I said it was a community member who brought this up, and Lionhead was kind enough to give us a response. And a memeber on N4G, posted this article.

all other developers with exclusive games are either 2nd party which means MS is publishing the game(NG2), or that ms owns the ip and paying a developer to make the game(see pgr). Or third party.

I wonder if the cancelled game is APB. It was supposed to be done by the folks who did Crackdown. I believe that was published by MS Game Studios too.
