It's an ok handheld. I bought one at launch, though I rarely use it. Zelda is really the only game I play on it, along with some of the downloadable titles I purchased.

-Alpha4676d ago

I want it for Zelda and the Q4 lineup. IMO it's a refreshing and totally different experience to what I'm used to and I miss the charm in video games that Nintendo still seems to do with their historic franchises

lepolohuevo4676d ago (Edited 4676d ago )

Same here, but I was also like that with my DS at the very beginning because of the lack of good launch titles. As long as the games come out it'll be fine, now if Nintendo would stop making stupid fucking decisions that'll be better altogether.
In time, I'm sure there'll be a hack to remove region protection so I'm not worried about lack of games.

ConstipatedGorilla4676d ago

I too got it at launch, but don't play it. Mario 3DS looks very interesting though.

SpoonyRedMage4676d ago

At that price it's definitely worth it. Pick up DOA, Resi: Mercs 3D and Ocarina of Time and you have hours upon hours of quality gaming ahead of you.

LOGICWINS4676d ago

Eh..its tempting, but I'm not buying till Luigi's Mansion 2 comes out. Don't see what the rush is either. Watch this be $130 on Amazon's Cyber Monday week.

AAACE54676d ago

Son of a b***h!

I just spent $250 on one of these for my wife a little over a week ago and now this!

gamingdroid4676d ago (Edited 4676d ago )

Hole cr@p, thats a $80 price drop! Glad I wasn't an earl adopter and I probably won't be a late adopter either since I get nauseous playing on the 3DS within a minute it seems.

If you are in the US, take it back to the store. Most stores take back products or price matches within 30 days.

Shackdaddy8364676d ago

Well, she will get 20 free games which is equivalent to $150.

Godchild10204676d ago

Don't you hate when you wait for the last minute and they decide to drop something like this on you? Check this out, it might ease the pain.

LITTLE UPDATE: As a way to stop rage at the price drop Nintendo is "awarding" anyone who purchases a 3DS before the price drop with Ambassador status. Here is the way Nintendo explains it:

These free games are available to anyone who owns a Nintendo 3DS system and uses a wireless broadband Internet signal to connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 11. These users will automatically be registered in the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program. The program contains two elements:

Starting Sept. 1, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES Virtual Console games at no charge and before they are available in the Nintendo eShop to the general public. These games, including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda, are slated to become paid downloadable games, but Ambassadors get them early for free. Once the paid versions of the games are posted to the Nintendo eShop later in the year, the updated versions will be available to Ambassadors for download at no cost
By the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. These include games like Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. These games will be available exclusively to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future.

So what do you think of the fastest price drop in Nintendo history (at least to the best of our memory)? Will this motivate you to get a 3DS?"

I agree and I never really wanted a handheld again until I saw 3ds and PSV. now I want both just because they are sweet.

they also have a buy one game get one free bonus it says.

At this price it is much more tempting to buy one. Ill get one someday probably.

I really want one now that the price is dropped. Say it goes to about 120 pounds, I think it'd be a steal.

CrescentFang4676d ago

I admit I don't know much about tech or anything, but here goes...
I have a router with WPA encrypted security and I don't want to change it... (pretty sure it's dangerous)
of course, not most launch games for a system are ever good (iirc) but I would like the 3DS to play some online DS games (I wonder what I'm missing out on all the pokemon games). I'm interested in a lot of titles, but I'm not disappointing with it. It's only been a few months... I can wait for better games especially when I have my time full with other great games coming out

GoldPS34676d ago

I would wait a little longer for better games and another price cut.

OllieBoy4676d ago

Will wait for a 3DS-Lite revision.

Hopefully it'll have some good games by then, not just Mario rehashes and N64 remakes.

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno12d ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
