Xbox 360 Celebrates Another Month On Top in Australia

Fresh from the record-breaking release of Halo 3, the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system continues to remain Australia's number one gaming platform.

According to the GFK figures for October, Xbox 360 was the best-selling console hardware for the month, repeating its September success with another very strong showing.

"Halo 3" also remained Australia's number one game, selling more copies and generating more revenue than any other title across all formats. In addition, Australians spent more dollars on Xbox 360 hardware, software and accessories than on any other platform.

David McLean, Australian Xbox Director, says, "We have maintained our momentum throughout October and with the blockbuster range of titles we have coming in November and December, Xbox 360 is primed to finish the year on a very successful high."

has spiked 360 sales in more than just the US. Halo seems to be big in most of the markets except for Japan.

I also read in other articles that console and software pricing is outrageous in Australia. Some games upwards of $100 dollars, or some inflated number.

The Wii here in Australia cost $400, even the games for it cost $100. It is the same for the price of every game here no matter on what system you have. The way I See it is companies use country's like Australia or UK to feed there bottom line, how else do you think consoles in the US can afford price drops and special bundels all the time.

In Ireland we pay $600 for a 360, $800 for a Ps3, $400 for a Wii and $90 for a game

Absolutely. Though the Japan numbers are 6 times higher, we are also just a drop in the population bucket. Just to be clear, I wasn't harping on the fact that the 360 is doing well, I was harping on the constant barrage of meaningless numbers from meaningless markets. And meaningful markets too.

I just want news on games, I don't care who's "winning".

i know we're a small country, but the govt has been saying during the election campaign that we have a AU$1.1 trillion economy and we are one of the richest countries in the world, at the very least more important than most European nations (though not as important as the big 4)

The size of your economy says nothing about the size of your population, nor does it magically increase the number of systems that Aussies are going to buy.

Uncharted? No one has played it. It looks like a Tombn Raider-esque story with Romancing-the-Stone quality plot.

And, the graphics are terrible. The light looks horrible, and the shadows are terrible.

We'll see how it plays, but my guess is it gets pretty bad average reviews; probably 7.0-7.2 / 10

hmm Tomb Raider..?? the only thing it has incommon with Tomb Raider is that they're both in the Action/Adenture genre nothing else...you got the plot wrong also..go watch some videos on youtube...and see

The 40GB PS3 has only just got to Oz and hasn't had a chance to affect any charts yet. Dont worry alot of Aussies are have been waiting for that price drop and PS3 will pick up from now till Christmas. Thats if our bloody games get here, I'm still waiting on R&C and Lair. CoD4 and Uncharted are just around the corner however.

And of course Xbox is still on top. Halo is only a month old (hard to believe since the general buzz has died down on the net alot.) and who would buy a PS3 just before a price drop.

PS, didn't we have this story before?

Good work for halo 3, all though I recone the Sales on this game won't last long due to the fact that Ratchet & Clank Future: ToD dosen't come out her till about a weeks time, which then Halo 3 should slip down in the charts.
