My guess is that it's a timed exclusive and we will see it on PS3 next year.

Oxymoron0284677d ago

I hope it comes out cross platform. Minecraft on PSV... I think a certain Lonely Planet song is appropriate for that situation.

Darth Stewie4677d ago

It is a timed exclusive and will come out on both PS3 & PSV. The Minecraft guys have done exclusives deals before when they released Minecraft on the Sony Xperia Play first and than it was to be released on other platforms.

Oxymoron0284677d ago

It'd make sense for it to only be timed exclusive. Plus Microsoft have a habit of saying exclusive when in fact they mean timed exclusive.

I don't see Notch being that stupid to limit profits for an extremely well selling game.

gamingdroid4677d ago

***Plus Microsoft have a habit of saying exclusive when in fact they mean timed exclusive.***

Yes they do, but it IS exclusive at the time of release unless you consider PC, then practically all console manufacturers are guilty!

Oxymoron0284677d ago

"Yes they do, but it IS exclusive at the time of release"
Well... yeah, because that's the definition of a timed exclusive...

"unless you consider PC, then practically all console manufacturers are guilty!"
And come again?

dedicatedtogamers4677d ago

As a PC owner of Minecraft, I was a bit saddened by the announcement of Minecraft for 360, not because I don't want other gamers to play it (share the love!), but because I wonder how well my initial purchase of the beta will be supported now that Notch is working on releasing Minecraft on other consoles.

TheOtherTheoG4677d ago

dedicatedtogamers: I think I read somewhere that Notch had hired another guy to do the lions share of the 360 version, not certain though. I do share your sentiments, however.

MaxXAttaxX4677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

...has been done.

So it's definitely a possibility to see this coming to PS3 and even PS Vita.

Dang straight, I was like "oh, minecraft on xbox360, thats nice." Then I started thinking..wait..."I got a ps3 and I rather use a keyboard and mouse for a game like mine craft"

So I'll just get it on ps3, unless there is a free version on xbox, i'll get both. Also I wanna try the Ps move with minecraft! The more precision the better.

oh,p.s. anyone who cant get into minecraft, Im actually curious how they would feel about survival with no electricity and being out on the 'lamb'. "I just cant get into surviving making my own stuff :( " LOL xD

manumit4677d ago

Well sir I'm going to disagree with you to agree then.

Agree or Disagree if you agree with me :D

THC CELL4677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

Id rather play lbp 2 than this sorry but people learn new stuff every day on lbp and has even made it 3d now as in walk round in first person mode and when the move patch is added we will see some crazy stuff.

wwm0nkey4677d ago

How the hell does LBP have anything to do with this at all? Minecraft is not a "create you own game" thing like LPB at all.

theonlylolking4677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

In both minecraft and LBP you can create stuff. You can also share your creations and play soooo they are very similar.

LBP 1 and 2 pwns minecraft though.

wwm0nkey4677d ago

@king

You dont "create" in the same was as LBP though also Minecraft is about exploring as well and with the new 1.8 update around the end of August or sometime in September Minecraft will finally be getting Towns, Dungeons, NPC's and ect and turn into an open world adventure game :)

Jdoki4677d ago

So I guess Mario Kart and GT5 are basically the same game then as you drive around in both?

I play LBP and Minecraft - they both require imagination, but they are vastly different games - and both excellent.

fullmetal2974677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

Little Big Planet is a small fry compared to the popularity of Minecraft.

MaxXAttaxX4677d ago

Not a popularity contest.

You do realize Minecraft is on another level than LBp?

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

This is a true unlimited game! It's not about what comes on the disk it's what you can make.. It's a truly unlimited world that can go on forever!

This is hardcore legos! And I rather use a mouse than moving my arms all day..

Do to memory I might not be as large on consoles..

bozebo4677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

The game does tend to use over a GB of RAM on PC but it is made in Java which causes some overheads. The console version should be able to fit into 512MB fairly easily, the whole game is being reprogrammed for optimal performance (the original isn't very efficiently programmed/structured for a start, regardless of it's reliance on Java).

Any chunks beyond your draw distance will probably be cleared from RAM and reloaded from the HDD if needed again (on the 360). The PC version only does that if it is starting to use too much RAM.

The PS3 only has 256MB of RAM (and another 256MB of video memory), so I am not sure what the plan is there...

sjaakiejj4677d ago

Bozebo:

Java doesn't really cause any overheads, the only difference is that the game is slightly slower than in C++ (Though it definitely doesn't take any more RAM memory).

Most of the stuff you mentioned is in fact graphics, and graphics is what takes most of the RAM memory in a game like minecraft. Since the RSX in PS3 has access to the full 512MB pool, I don't see this being much of an issue.

frostypants4677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

Minecraft has a lot more flexibility in terms of world size and scale.

But LBP2 crushes it in what can actually be pulled off, due to a much MUCH larger toolset.

Apples and oranges. They aren't competitors.

@sjaakiejj: Java programming puts an emphasis on design structure and re-use via an object oriented approach, at the cost of efficiency. It's far from an ideal language for game development. It works for Minecraft because, by its very philosophy, it's a very simple game. There's a reason why most games are coded in C. I used to code in Java, and it's clunky as hell for anything graphics-related beyond 2D desktop app UIs. And on top of that, Minecraft *is* a notoriously sloppily coded game.

MaxXAttaxX4677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

Building is done with blocks.

LBP2 has a lot more tools.
And although creations are done on 3 layers and no an open space like Minecraft, really amazing creations have been made. You should spend some time away from your 'beastly rig' once in a while and check things out :P

I'm still trying to find a connection between LBP and Minecraft.

Takoulya4677d ago

Exactly. It's just like comparing Minecraft and Terraria, except LBP has logic components.

Hail Indie Developers!

Rage_S904677d ago (Edited 4677d ago )

in your opinion...i tried minecraft and i really don't get the appeal i was bored within 10 minutes..

user8586214677d ago

said the same thing when I played lbp 2, if I want to play a fps ill just play a damn fps rather than the tech demos lbp offers :)

Cosmo8114677d ago

That's because you played for 10 minutes. Takes ages to get into, and you need to read up crafting recipes etc.

ZeroX98764677d ago

anyone who is saying that minecraft OR LBP is not a good game should just shut the hell up.
We`ve played SO many hours of minecraft (me and my 5 buddys) and our world (server) is just amazing. We don`t have crazy thing like you see on youtube, but it`s still crazy!!!
LBP is my favorite 4 player platformer... 4 player!!!! it`s the NSMBwii for PS3, just awesome.
both game I played probably WELL over 100 hours and I`m still enjoying them a lot.

bozebo4677d ago

I would say it is better than LBP, but thats because I didn't much like LBP - not sure why, I just didn't.

Fanbot4677d ago

future ps3 version confirmed.

Swiggins4677d ago

Yes....a picture of a sheep really does represent the sony demographic. ;D

I kid I kid.

MasterCornholio4677d ago

Probably will come out on both the PS3 and the Vita. Imagine starting on something on the PS3 then transferring it to the Vita so you can finish it while your away from your console.

Undeadwolfy4677d ago

That would be awesome. Im pretty sure LBP2 and LBP Vita will have the same functionality. The same sort of functionalityhas already been available in the form of PS Minis.

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name52d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno52d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno52d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure51d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

Minecraft Bedrock Introduces Official Add-Ons To Marketplace

Minecraft Bedrock is introducing add-ons to the marketplace. The add-ons can now be added to many existing and new worlds.

Jin_Sakai72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

Nice! Next up, shaders on consoles.

“A new update is improving how mods work for Minecraft Bedrock. Mojang has introduced add-ons to the marketplace.”

“These add-ons can now easily be added to new and existing worlds instead of being tied to a single world.
There are plenty of free and paid add-ons that will let you customize just about anything in your world.”

OtterX71d ago

So RayTracing is no longer locked to the NVIDIA maps? I know there was a workaround, but it will be nice to have easier access to all worlds.
