It looks like a team of developers have made use of the RAGE engine, creating a full GTA San Andreas map for GTA IV. You'll now be able to traverse the town you've already rampaged through, without leaving the comforts of the latest main game in the series.
Today the "GTA IV: San Andrews Mod Team" announced we can expect a public beta, containing the ENTIRE San Andreas map, to be released in August.
Hardcore Gamer: We couldn't help wondering why people would be so excited about a direct sequel, especially since the fake press release alleged that CJ would be the main playable character.
I would never want Rockstar to waste time on a sequel. They should always be spending time on creating classic characters and hardware-pushing game worlds.
It will probably be even smaller than GTA5, pfft 1 city, in vice city it's be a town, with Grass covering 99% of the map like gt 5
yea but GTA 5 was one city, GTA SA had three cities yes maybe smaller map but still so they could do GTA VC bigger and more detailed and maybe add a joinging state to it
I liked VC way more the SA. I remember buying it and playing it for a few hours and then just being bored with it. Vice city felt more alive and funner. Maybe I just didn't care for the story, it was the same with GTA4 I hated the story and characters.

VC had the best music but SA had some good ones too, i liked the humor in VC as well as the seriousness of it. If they made a new VC today i guess they would have to expand the map quite a bit, not that it's too small but it is a lot smaller when compared to SA.. even the amount of missions.
agreed i have played them all and only San andreas has any longevity. the rest are just souless empty worlds like GTAV.
GTA1&2? Okay, but 3, and VC??? Not so much. VC to this day still has the best atmosphere out of any GTA title ever made.

This might just be the best Mod in the entire history of modding. The scale of the project is just HUGE and they've pulled it off perfectly. Can't wait for this one!
Don't get me wrong, I think this looks great,
but Black Mesa Source will probably be the greatest mod of all time, when it eventually gets released.

Yeah I'm patiently waiting for it myself. How long it's taking them is understandable, I just hope they can manage to finish it.
I hope it's out soon, at this rate they're gonna need a team to make a graphical update for it cause it'll look like crap by the time it comes out! :P
San Andreas was easily the best GTA game, and I want this badly..brings back awesome memories. It was SA that when you shot the moon it would change sizes right??

This is the kinda things i see on PC, and wished i had a good powerful PC. On consoles we get ripped off with crap DLC and bend over to Sony & MS what ever they say...
here on PC, they getting the entire map for free...

You can mod the steam version as I have it modded, but not all mods work that great as Steam forces you to have the latest updates and most of the mods work better on version 1.0.4.0 and steam version is 1.0.7.0 unfortunately. You put the mods here: (copy and paste) C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\g rand theft auto iv\GTAIV

The finished version will probaly have small bugs but you can't blme them on that. The scale of the project is just MASSIVE!

theres lots of glitches in finished games made buy 100 man dev teams with 100 million dollar budgets
this is probably a couple guys just doing something to bring a game lots of people love to others for free in an enhanced graphics package

I agree. Sometimes games can be fun, and that's enough. Not all games have to aspire to fine art.
I've seen an artist pull up a rubber floor mat so it made an arch on one side, and he called it art lol. It was even in the Museum of Modern Arts. If that's art then video games should certainly be considered art. Art can show violent things. Goya made some great pieces of people being tortured.

I'm glad they chose San Andreas to MOD into a better looking game. San Andreas is my favorite GTA, can't wait for this MOD!
