Best Buy is selling the 60GB PS3 with a free game (Heavenly Sword, Lair) or a controller.

It's a good bargin. I personally would go with the 40GB if I didn't have a PS3 already. It's the best price.

I agree that the 40gb is a great buy, it's probably the smartest move Sony has made for the PS3 to date. I hope I don't sound greedy, but I would prefer if they gave you an instant $30.00 rebate on ANY Blu-Ray at time of purchase. I hate Spiderman, I guess it's easier since Sony owns the Spiderman franchise right? Oh well, still a great bargain. I would buy it for 400 bucks even if it didn't come with a movie!

In fact spiderman 3 holds almost every record there is for a movie; best weekend, fastest earning, best opening day, best imax,best world wide, highest grossing ever. So from there view they are only putting the most successful movie of all time with the system. I think thats a really smart move, regardless if you liked it or not, spiderman 3 is prob going to be the best selling dvd, and the best selling blu-ray of all time so far. Plus they want people to get into blu-ray so its a win win.

However, almost everyone I know, said they were disappointed in the film. Therefore, I know there are people who would rather be able to choose the movie they get. I could write a huge novel on here on why I think its the best of the three movie wise not sales wise, thats what I was really saying. I was just trying to say how much of an success it was. The best even. So from sony's stand point you put whats to be predicted that could be the best selling DVD and blu-ray of all time, it would make sense to put that in the bundle. I think its a better choice than what they went with at launch talledaga nights.

Haha again with well all my friends said it sucked too. What a world we live in. All my friends love it, including my parents and girlfriend. Its a matter of opinion and you prob have friends that think similar to you so they didn't like it either.

I agree with everyone that it should come with a game, maybe motorstorm or fall of man ( not likely since its rated M), but since this movie is the highest grossing film of all time, and its made by sony for heavens sake, its the safer route. I don't agree with it, but it makes total sense. haha for me if I didn't already have a ps3 or going to buy spiderman blu-ray already, that would have been a selling point for me. yeah lair is not a good game to go with it, but heavenly sword yeah, thats awesome. What a game to showcase the ps3! so what if its short, its a great game, and the perfect game to show people what the ps3 is capable of.

These games almost all single players are short, so yeah getting HS with a 60GB is a good deal. Amazon.com has already ran out of 60GB, so you all better jump on this if you want a 60GB version.

Since the 80gig w/ a game is the same price as the 60gig w/ no game. I see stacks of the 60gig at BB and there was only 1 80gig.

this deal is actually a few weeks old. once we (best buy) dropped the price of the 80g, a notice was put out to include either Lair, HS, or a controller for free with the 60g's to get them out of stock. so this isnt an online only offer, we are offering it instore as well. we even have signage up on the offer in my store

The 40gig comes with Spider-man 3 and no games so the way I look at it is the extra $100 gets you at least a game which if you bought seperately is 64.00 dollars or so after tax. Then you get all the back compat as well as the extra ports, extra MB's, etc.

It's a matter of choice. Game bundles don't mean anything if you don't want the games that come with it.

The 40GB does throw in Spider-man 3. That movie IS gonna sell some copies at retail you know. Some people will pay money to own it. It's a matter of choice.

Call me a cheap skate, but @ $400.00 I'll have just enough to buy the system (due to rent, bills, etc.) till my next paycheck. It gives me an opportunity to snag a console before they all start flying off the shelves with the Holiday Season coming. Lair... I play it at my freinds and the game is good. It's just that they tried to make the Dragon to realistic and heavy and he turn kinda slow.... But the graphics are CRAZY GOOD. When flaying in the hugr canyons... you can see everything from very far away and it looks real and very very detailed... Many enemies on screen at once. Thousands... I like other games alot more... but it is very far from a bad game.

i'm just glad it isn't Lair alone or they might never play the system again... I was so disappointed with that game. Ratchet and Clank or Warhawk would be a much better offer IMHO.

Best Buy chooses to give out a free game or controller rather dropping the price to $480. There are places where you can get a new 60gb for $480, so if HS or lair isn't right for you, you can save $20.

it's one of the *only places I go to shop for games and accessories now. Even though the people working there don't know about all the quirks and nuances of each system, they are generally helpful and receptive if you manage to flag one down.

Gamestop on the other hand seems to go out of there way to let customers know that the PlayStation 3 is definitely not the way to go if you're looking for a new console and a manager here in my home town has gone so far to tell me that, "we aren't carrying many things for the PS3 anymore..." Of course he joked around and made light of it, but other people were in the store and didn't think it was so funny. They are a sad lot.

I saw this deal in the store about a week after I bought my PS3(80GB) and Heavenly Sword separately. It plays all of my PS3 games, even MDK2 so I'm cool. But on this deal.

Heavenly Sword is the way I would go, but the controller is actually a better deal. Controllers don't depreciate in value like games do.

In the mail I found this leaflet from the 'Mediamarkt' (big electronics store franchise in The Netherlands) and it was advertising:

- a 60 GB PS3
+ 1 controller
+ Motorstorm
+ BC (obviously)

for 399 Euro's! The same price as the 40 GB model.

I obviously went down to the store as quickly as I could, as I had to see this with my own eyes. And when it appeared to be valid, I couldn't resist and I picked one up.

The guy in the store said that it was a temporary deal and probably wouldn't last more than a week as they only had a limited stock of the 60GB left.

But I'd never expect a great deal as this one. Remember, the PS3 has only been available in Europe for what...8 months and already it has dropped, temporary or not, from 600 Euro's to 400 Euro's plus they added a game.

This package is perfect for me. BC is very important to me and I don't get all that many excess stuff.
Only one controller suits me fine as I'll be awaiting the controller with rumble included and I don't really care for Motorstorm, but it's a nice bonus. And a 60 GB disk will do me fine for the moment. If I want, I can upgrade the hardrive myself in the future.

this happened some time last week. last wednesday or thursday i went back and got a controller since i got my 60gb PS3 two weeks ago.

i knew they were going to start giving away something with it. circuitcity did. now all the 60gb are sold out at my bestbuy.
