SO true. Yes they have Zelda and Mario but like he says where is the Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Gears of war type title. Gaming industry has changed a lot this generation. I keep saying it but Nintedo should release new (not Mario and Zelda type games) ips (along with Mario and Zelda titles). If they start releasing games like this I would be interested

iamsuperman I've been noticing you for a long time and you're just another N4G PS3 fanboy. This guy is no less. Now that Nintendo's going hardcore with 3rd parties, PSXextreme wants to steal their thunder by writing such articles about their own agendas, and that's pathetic.

He says that he tried to love SMG yet he couldn't... that's weird since the whole world loved it. Oh wait, its PSXextreme.com!!!

He also says that the SNES will be his only Nintendo memory and that he didn't like N64 or GCN at all. LOL, most of Nintendo's best games have come AFTER SNES... *sigh*

You are a pretty staunch supporter of Nintendo from what i have noticed in my short time here. Not that it's a bad thing but I find it hypocritical for you to call someone a fanboy. Your report of this article had nothing to do with anything other then you didn't like it putting Nintendo in a negative light. That's not being a good contributor.

Secondly how is a small gaming website going to steal anyone's thunder? You have me flabbergasted on this one. The only one that can undermine Nintendo is Nintendo. If they fail to live up to expectations, market this poorly, fail to appease investors, etc they have no one to blame but themselves. It's not as if some website with a guy's opinion is going to have any impact whatsoever on a console launch unless it's one of the bigger ones.

Finally let's be honest anyone over the age of 15 should be aware that the SNES was a largely dominant console in it's time producing a wide variety of games that appealed (and still does) to many. What Nintendo was doing with the NES and SNES was great and that's part of the reason there is a demand for those older games.

Try not to be so biased in your posting and maybe, just maybe your opinion will merit something. As it stands now it does not.

Not that I'm denying this is true. But how is this different than what the Wii is doing?
If we take games from the NES and SNES and bring them over to a new Nintendo console, we basically have the Wii.

Plus they may have been some, but I don't remember seeing that many M rated NES and SNES games. Aren't M rated games what many consider to be "hardcore" today? The Wii has some M rated games. You can argue that the Wii appeals to a to a wider range of "casual" and "mature" gamers than the NES and SNES did. ;D

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty 3, The House of the Dead: Overkill, The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, MadWorld, etc. Good games or bad, does it matter? They are hardcorz.

There are mutiple ways to spin it, but if someone says that Nintendo abandoned them with the Wii, you'll have to give a better excuse than "I grew up", "Nintendo is now focusing on kids and not me" or "Nintendo has changed". Becuase by now, people should be smarter and realize that that's nothing but an ignorant misconception on a massive scale. The only people that can say they have been abandoned by Nintendo are the gamers that only care about online gaming, which would be strange because nintendo only tried online twice. Which in both cases the laggist of Wii games were still better. Or the graphics whores who shouldn't be console gaming in the first place.

In short, only online gamers and graphics whores (who shouldn't be gaming on consoles) have the right to say they have been abandoned. 7_7

Disaster Day Of Crysis was an alright go by nintendo take away the on the rails shooting and wii would of had a wii cult classic

Nintendo have pretty much lost me since the N64 and I don't even think that was their crowning achievement (the SNES was, for the record). "HEY WE'RE GOING HARDCORE! HERE'S A BIG TABLET WITH BUTTONS" and "IT'S HD AND HAS GORE AND STUFF" doesn't make it core, they know the core gamer spends money but they are using odd techniques to try and capture that market.

Why not? I have always had both a Nintendo and Sony console in my household. From a SNES to PS1 and N64, PS2 and Gamecube, etc. It will still be the same for me now; I will get a PS4 for serious hardcore gaming and a Wii U for Zelda and Metroid.

how can you say you are leaving nintendo just NOW after the Wii and then Wii(u) gets announced. The Wii u brings graphics, power, and multiplatform games. It even showed a montage of 3rd party games like Darksiders 2, yet you are leaving nintendo NOW and not during the first Wii?

Exactly. Nintendo does EXACTLY what these "hardcore" gamers want and they STILL get bashed. The Wii U is stronger than the current systems, has awesome online from the details we've heard, and has a more traditional controller (dual analogue and 8 buttons), and yet people STILL aren't satisfied.

I'm actually just boarding nintendo's ship (bought a Wii last fall and the 3DS at launch) because of some of the games the Wii offered. So I'm not sure why this guy is leaving nintendo now.

However, it's hard to argue that nintendo hasn't just been using the same IP's for the last 20 some years and though I think they are all good (at least from the few I have experienced), nintendo could stand to gain something from revealing a fresh IP.

I don't know it kind of seems to me like Nintendo does makE excellent core games. I like the formula of their core games. Gears of War, Uncharted, Resistance, Socom, and all these shooting games just play the same to me. Theres little to no depth in the game play barely any customization of weapons or armor. You just blast away. And the next problem I have is the framerate. For as powerful as the PS3 and 360 are why is everything in 30FPS? The games don't move smooth at all animations are sometimes clunky and they use the same auto jumping/set piece formula that I hate. For example platforming in Uncharted is fail-proof. I love the fact that Mario games don't make super jumps for you! You have to have the skill yourself to make that jump.

For me , theres nothing like playing a Zelda game. The smoothness of the controls. The perfect Z targeting battle system, the amazing puzzles and gear. Everything just gels in Nintendo games that just make it different than those other blockbuster games where graphics are first then gameplay comes second.

The same goes for a Mario and Metroid games. Metroid Prime 3 is one of the few shooters on the market that is 60 FPS that smoothness cannot be understated, it really makes a shooter much better. Look at how many people love COD over everything else. While the features, multiplayer, ect are a big reason why its so popular its the 60FPS smoothness that makes the actually gameplay sooooo fun.

I know people share different opinions on this but this is something that is very important to my enjoyment of a game. I couldn't even imagine playing a game like Super Smash Bros Brawl in 30FPS even if it had graphics like Uncharted, it would ruin it for me.

SO HERES TO HOPING NINTENDO NEVER EVER FOLLOWS THE PATH OF THE BIG BLOCKBUSTERS GAMES, SACRIFICING FRAME RATES FOR BETTER GRAPHICS.

just about everyone prolly played a nintendo console before from snes times atleast or even a gameboy of some sort and even now i find myself playin the sh*t out of my brothers mario brothers for wii and im a 360/ps3 owner.i was hoping for nintendo to really take us into the next generation with some tech thats not on par with current gen but beyond it like close to high end pc. this wii u is a nice console my two things are.
