Yea that's my main concern, why go backwards the ps2 handled 60fps for DMC games I believe and it's not like DMC is going to be a graphical bench mark anyways so they should have just used the MT Framework.

Its Ninja Theory ~_~ after what they did with Enslaved we'll be lucky if its even locked at 30fps with no performance problems. The problems were so glaringly obvious while i played through Enslaved :(

I have huge issues with this. My favourite DMC was 3. 4 was poor but rather than trying to redeem themselves they have handed it to an average developer.

Normally i'd be optimistic but after Enslaved i'm not sure. It was slap dash and thats what Ninja Theory do.

Just to clear things up, Rebellion wasn't in Devil May Cry 1 (hence Tony-Red-Grave's comment - lol @ his name by the way). Dante had Force Edge which transformed into Sparda.

But we're getting a young Dante in this DmC game and Rebellion was Dante's weapon in DMC 3 so I guess it makes sense for it to make an appearance. Thing is, he always had it with him, so he wouldn't have to acquire it in the game since it's been his property since his father gave it to him.
We'll see what Ninja Theory does. After all, there are a lot of weapons in every DMC games and the one we've seen in the trailer might be a secondary one.

Overheating firearms is a poor design choice for a game series that envolves killing as many enemies as fast as possible, but now they want you to worry about your guns in addition to the enemies.....thats stupid. Reminds me of another Ninja Theory game, Heavenly Sword, correct me if I am wrong, but something was not right about that game. It's been 4 years now, but didn't you have to hold down both bumpers and time it just right to block...it was something counter intuitive I remember that much.

This game is pushing me further away with each new info reveal. The Dante redesign has not won over fans and gameplay is not Ninja Theories strong point. Their strong point is character and story. Problem with that is DMC is know for fast paced gameplay. There is an at odds going on with this new Dante and it could spell Disaster.

I enjoy hack n slash, but there are only a few worth their weight anymore. I fear Ninja Theory will ruin this DMC game, I fear the Ninja Gaiden 3 reveal will confirm that game is ruined. Which will mean I can only hope Bayonetta 2 will not get ruined when we finally see that.

Yes I enjoyed Enslaved, it had a good story and characters worth investing time in, but as far as combat, it was underwhelming. Come to think of it, Heavenly Swords combo system wasn't that great either (blocking was bad and switching weapons felt a bit off).

Hack n' slash is definitely my favourite genre by far. And quite honestly, I don't think Ninja Gaiden will be screwed over. It does actually sound pretty interesting with the way things are being stated. I absolutely adore Ninja Gaiden, as I do with Devil May Cry, and I'm very sad that DMC is being given to such an inexperienced dev... Ninja Gaiden Sigmas were actually awesome! NGS2 is still by far my most favourite PS3 game: therefore, my hopes for NG3 are high and I can't wait!

But Bayo 2 will be phenomenal when it's finally announced/released! Assuming it'll be handled by P* Games.

Why bother calling it DMC? Capcom is hoping to breathe new life into the series. They think the last one did not do as well because it was too similar to the core mechanic. About the Overheat system, it's impossible to say if it would be a good or a bad thing right now. The guns have always been weak and I only used them as a means to keep monsters in the air or away from me. I guess it's all about how it works with the sword gameplay, as we all know DMC's gameplay is about fast paced action and insane combos.

If it's really running at 30 fps, I won't complain. I'd rather have that rather than what Enslaved had.

NT has a chance to win DMC fans back with their E3 gameplay reveal, I hope they won't mess up. Actually, I just hope it'll be linked the the series' plot...I don't know what they mean when they say it is a "reboot". To me, reboot = something like Castlevania : Lords of Shadow/Tomb Raider. The way they talk about it is like it has nothing in common with the rest of the franchise because it happens before it all but it will eventually be linked to it. I sure hope that's the truth.

At least we're getting a DMC HD Collection, I'd like to replay DMC 1 in all its glory. Not DMC 2 though...

Oh I'm not too fond of the plot actually, it's just that DMC never felt finished, there isn't any conclusion (it's supposed to be DMC 2's ending, but...What the hell?). It also didn't feel like it needed a reboot because of a story that didn't make any sense or because of a non-evolving gameplay (you know, like Dynasty Warriors).

If DmC doesn't show anything related to the "old" established storyline, I won't mind at all. I'll just be a little disappointed if we never get any kind of closure on such a great franchise (not necessarily "and they all lived happily ever after").

I'll just "Wait & See", speculating is useless at this time. People are blaming Ninja Theory for ruining the series, I don't see how as we barely know anything about this new title. Also, the reboot is Capcom's choice. Any other developer would have had to do the exact same thing, so it was bound to happen. I just hope it'll be great. I want it to be great. Ninja Theory was given a lot of freedom for a specific reason, they're supposed to go all-out, to bring gamers something different, and that I like.

I don't want NT to conclude this story, I would have wanted Capcom's team to finish it first before rebooting it. We don't even know if DmC will be linked to the series' plot, but if the game ends up being a success, they'll make a sequel for sure. Now whether this will continue the previous story or create a new timeline, I don't know and I don't care right now.

But anyway, it's not like Hideki Kamiya participated in DMC after the first game, and his vision of DMC will always be the best.

I think a lot of the things he said were quite awful, especially the "Dante didn't look cool anymore" part...As far as I'm concerned, Dante is one of the coolest characters to have graced the video gaming industry.

As I said already, what they will show during E3 will be a hit-or-miss presentation. Either it'll stay true to the franchise or, as you put it, they'll have ruined it all.
It's even worse than modernizing the franchise, they're westernizing it. DMC was always over-the-top, and I certainly don't want it to lose its craziness.
I don't want a new Silent Hill : Homecoming.

Well at least one thing is certain, if DmC fails, Ninja Theory disappears. They should be aware of that by now.

1. This isn't NT's property, its Capcom. They've vehemently said they're involved in the making of DmC, most likely the gameplay department. Why does everyone think NT are going to make the game alone, Capcom is involved, we just don't know which role they play exactly.

2. I agree. But that was Capcom's fault, not NT's. Capcom wanted to change Dante's look cause they believed Dante's look was getting tired and old. Again, Capcom approach NT not the other way around.

3. Hideki Kamiya hasn't work with the series since the first one. And he himself has said in his Twitter page that "Dante has changed in every iteration of the series" (this is his words not mine so you do the research). So that means even before NT was involved, Capcom changed Kamiya's vision of Dante long ago with DMC 2. Thus, the smoking thing is irrelevant now because that was Kamiya's version of Dante, not Capcom's. Also, if you're referencing the novel about the smoking thing, the DMC 1 novel is uncanon. So is the thing about Dante being named Tony Redgrave.

4. NT's games were never focus on gameplay to begin with. The gameplay mechanics weren't great, but they weren't completely broken either. You're equating HS and Enslaved as a DMC competitor when they weren't meant to be as that. HS was suppose to be a GOW clone while Enslaved was suppose to be an Uncharted clone in sum way. Nothing about those 2 games were after DMC to begin with.

6. I agree it sucks it won't be 60fps. But then again, you're making it seem 30fps games are complete crap. I played the PS3 version of Bayonetta, the one that goes between 20-30fps, and it was playable. It might not have been a smooth experience like the Xbox 360 version with its higher frames, but the game wasn't a unplayable mess like other games. Hell, there are sum really good Youtube videos of really skilled players playing the PS3 version of Bayonetta like there was no glitches and such.

In conclusion, you shouldn't judge a game you have no idea about. You might think its crappy, but then again you don't have enough evidence to firmly believe that it is crappy because you haven't played it. It might be decent or even great for all you know. So don't judge so hastily.

All you saw was a BARELY 2 minute TEASER trailer of a prototype of a game. Anything could've changed between the debut of that trailer and the new E3 one. solid snake smoking was used SEVERAL TIMES as a gameplay mecanic. SS doesn't smoke for the sake of being edgy or cool , he doesn't it because of his character itself and to survive.
i can count at least 4 MGS games when smoke was used either as a diversion towards some guards/ or to find out infrared sensors .

For some reason I doubt Capcom will give Ninja Theory proper time to finish the game, like they would if it was done internally. Ninja theory hasn't really ever had proper time to finish a game this gen. For the same reason I'm not too psyched about the new Resident Evil. It seems they like to use western devs in part due to an expedited development cycle.

You can't really rush a game in developement since 2002 ...and with the help of cambridge studios since you switched platforms .

And i dont see how Enslaved's developement ever felt rushed

Doesn't spam mean use something over and over cause thats what I taught.This is how I play DMC3-Shoot at boss with the 2 hand guns to build up Devil Trigger,activate DT and lay into the boss until DT runs out,pull back and start building DT again.
Doesn't that mean I spam my weapons and DT? Too bad people don't want to play as Sparda,he'd be better than the Emo freak they turned Dante into.
