Crash Bandicoot Cry Engine 2 screens make you want it on PS3

Gamersmint: A talented guy had created a mod using Cry Engine 2 which is a new Crash Bandicoot game, in full high-definition. We’ve got some great screenshots showing the visual prowess on offer.

Plus, the SCREENS might make me want this specific mod, but the VIDEOS that I've seen make me say "no thanks"....as Crash runs about 1/4 MPH.

I've lost faith on the "other" Crash games.

Only the Sony/Naughty Dog Crash games would be worth remaking in HD and those would be PS3-only.

It's more of a "what if" type of thing since Sony has been leading in remake scene for consoles and most fans are familiar with it on the PS platform. The series was in its prime during those days when ND developed it; now the series is just horrible.

Why did Sony let go of the IP? You should never let go a successful IP! Imagine if GT4 was still PS3 exclusive. Yes, I know GT4 wasn't THAT great but still, would have meant a lot. Anyhow, I hope Sony's bet on AGENT pays sooner than later :)

I thought they just imported the model and other items and took screens. But they got a whole camera system, ANIMATIONS, same movement mechanics, etc.

Istanbull: Activision technically only did the iPhone cart racers. Mind over Mutant was something they partially published but that was more of a Vivendi/Sierra game than anything else since it came out a few weeks after the Activision merger happened.

I'm willing to give Activision a chance with their first "true" Crash game. The iOS games weren't bad and I think they reviewed well too.

@midnytrain, ok well you got the disagrees because the word is not random, that word was used in all the crash games, so you obviously never played the game or you should of remembered this.

Second of all you got the agrees because other kids clearly have not played the game either and dont understand the whole "ondagar" thing.

And thirdly yes the system sucks, I got marked for trolling in a ps3 article the other day when I was having a joke, and going by my comment history I love sony stuff, hey I even put /sarcasm at the end of statement. Eventually you just end up going meh. Naughty Dog should never have sold the franchise, because apart from the Wrath of Cortex, Crash has died. Crash 1, 2 and 3 were some of the best games of the 90s.

Naughty Dog and Insomniac never owned those IP's to begin with. They were made FOR Universal, whereas J&D and R&C were made FOR Sony.

Activision only released one Crash game and that was the iPhone cart game which wasn't bad. The Spyro and Crash games from 2008 were Vivendi/Sierra titles, the only reason Activision's name is on the box is because the merger happened a few weeks before.

Activision has yet to make an official Spyro or Crash game but they are doing the Toys for Bob developed game but who knows how that will turn out.

And Also, seeing as every Crash game released since then has been multiplatform, would it not be out of the question to see such a game as this on the 360 as well as PS3?

i do miss crash but the in first uncharted, nate always reminded me of the mascot. linear jungle levels, his facial ticks and mannerisms. uncharted really came into its own with the sequel but the first always displayed some old ties to naughty dogs crash (or maybe its just me)

As much as I want a Crash game on the PS3, these screenshots look really bad. The jungles look ripped straight from Crysis without any of the cartoon style or charm of the Crash games, and Crash is creepy and hunched over.

I am not too amazed.

I mean, it's true, Crash Bandicoot was AWEEEESOMEEE. I loved it. In fact, CB1 was the FIRST GAME ON PSONE I EVER played. I only had an Amiga500 before, and this game I played at a friend of my parents' made me just WANT a PS1. Awesome. Didin't ever regret playing it. ^^

And also, the CryEngine2 is awesome as F*, no doubt about it. But except for Crash, who looks nice, the trees and waterfalls and blah blah are just too realistic. Doesn't really fit the comic-look of the game.
The over-stylized enemies, the mask, the way they die (fly to the background or flat), all this stuff doesn't fit the CE2.

But this does make me want a new CB, for sure. True.
