Resistance 3 Multiplayer 1080p Footage Does The PS3 Justice

Some great 1080p footage of Resistance 3′s multiplayer has got out.

BK-2014782d ago

Looks amazing. I'm really loving the look of the map although it is much more condensed than R2.

dead_eye4782d ago

I'm really surprised at how good it looks. R2 had a poor art style but this one seems to be going back to R1

Dragun6194782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

R3 is looking really good. Looks very polished. That extra year of development and polishing for R3 did wonders for Insomniac.
Really hope that this turns out good.

TheLastGuardian4782d ago

This is my most anticipated FPS of 2011. I'm glad Insomniac is going back to the roots of Fall of Man with the campaign. Resistance has always had great Multiplayer. I'm confident in this title. Insomniac knows what they're doing.

ZombieNinjaPanda4782d ago

I still dislike the fact that they aren't bringing back the R1 elements of Human versus aliens. Now it just feels like to me - Humans versus alien skins with different perks.

unrealgamer584782d ago

Man, The guy playing sucks ass.

lil Titan4782d ago

how many players online? did they double it like the last game? so this one should be 80 online unless someone tells me different

WhittO4782d ago

wow looks really great!

Cant wait for this, Uncharted 2 and Resistance 3 are what I'm most looking forward to this year.
Infamous 2 will keep me going until then, might pick up K3 but not sure, wasn't that "Wowed" with the demo tbh - got bored!

Corepred44782d ago

Yeah this guy sucks. Where are the grenades?! The spike grenades and the igniting gas grenades better be on here. Do the aliens still have the tagging on their guns? Also I know people hate DLC but I hope they come out with some DLC that includes the classic maps from R1, especially the one which was pretty much just a big circle with a dome in the middle. I miss R1 sooo much!!

MisfitSmurf4782d ago

@Zombie, it does kinda suck, but in resistance 1 the Chimera's were OP'd

@lil titan, its only 16 players.

=D but i cant wait till the beta, i already got a spot in it via facebook contest.

Aquanox4782d ago

1080p footage? This was filmed by a 1080p camera but the game is 720p. Looks good but I don't get all that "doing the ps3 justice" as if it looked anywhere near the big hitters in terms of visuals.

pinksteak094782d ago

@whitto, the title you're looking for is uncharted "3".....uncharted "3" for $500

sikbeta4782d ago

This is one of those few FPS that I love, Looks Amazing!

CryofSilence4782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

The only thing holding this movie back is it was shot off-screen.

Joni-Ice4782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

Is 1080p off-screen Resistance videos still considered HD when viewing them? Great Video by the way....

Beefstew4u4782d ago

1080p off-screen footage of a 720p game = "Does the ps3 justice".

WAWI4782d ago

Are you kidding me? It looks awesome, but what's wrong with every developer going on CoD's path??

Dislike whatever you'd like, but honestly it doesnt seem like Resistance, more like combination of MW2 and Crysis 2.

BulletToothtony4782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

FPS =/= COD

they implemented rewards which is awesome.. it might be the reason why cod is addicting. But the gameplay doesn't really look like cod.

Fast yes, cod like no.

If anything it reminds me more of RFoM multiplayer than anything else.

xAlmostPro4782d ago

I disagree.. resistance 3 to me looks like it will be far more competitive and tactical than previous resistance games, smaller teams etc.

Can see this game being picked up by hardcore fps players on ps3 for things like gamebattles etc

TheLastGuardian4782d ago

Really? Have you ever played Resistance MP? It has it's own gameplay style. It doesn't need to take anything from any other games. Looks pretty unique to me.

X_GAMER_X4782d ago

That whats I had on my mind. Call of duty MW1 brought new standard to the FPS genre. Thats where the fans are. And every one is copying them. Every FPS game characters now walks and runs just like Call of duty.

callahan094782d ago

What? This doesn't even remotely remind me of Call of Duty. Is it like Call of Duty because you saw your weapons upgrading? If that's the case, then I don't know what to say. Upgradeable equipment has been around a lot longer than Call of Duty. Maybe Call of Duty made it popular in an FPS, but that ONE feature doesn't make an entire game "COD-ified".

This game looks very unique, the only other game I can think of that looks even remotely similar to it was the original Resistance: Fall of Man.

Call of Duty doesn't have a health meter that doesn't recharge. Call of Duty doesn't have a weapon wheel. Call of Duty doesn't have the kind of out-of-this-world creativity in its weapon designs and selection. Call of Duty doesn't have bosses.

If you want to claim that the upgradeable weapons are borrowed from COD, I guess OK, but who cares? It's not like the entire game borrows from it.

All games take inspiration from somewhere, including many other games, and if there's a particular feature that goes over well with gamers, that adds an element of addictiveness to the game, and that fits in with the feel and theme of your game, then by all means implement it and no it doesn't automatically make your game a clone of another.

Excellent lighting and environment textures, lOoks great so far.

jut4204782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

Looks great!!! reminds me of Killzone for some reason...

Lyr1c4782d ago

I'm getting a Battlefield/Killzone vibe from the map, with the possibility of a little Crysis mixed in there.

I don't even know what to think...Other than the fact that it doesn't take much to kill you.

cochise3134782d ago

One of the KZ creator lended a hand for this project, so that probably why you're getting that vibe.

jut4204782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

Yea now that I look at it again I do get a little bit of Battlefield vibe especially with the character movement. Map is definitely reminiscent of Killzone tho. Didn't really like R2 as much as FOM but R3 is looking awesome.

@cochise
that makes sense

Jaces4782d ago

Resistance multiplayer is so damn fun. I hope much didn't change cause they really rocked it in 2.

xtremeimport4782d ago

yeah, i am impressed.
the thing i found with R2's visuals everything seemed to be blured...the edges in this game look much sharper...idk if that makes sense, but it just looks so much stronger visually.

Timesplitter144782d ago

I'm really, really excited for R3 but I can't say I was impressed by this video

socomnick4782d ago

some developers are not in their comfort zone while making fps.

Insomniac is one of them.

They should go back to their roots and develop more platformers, fps does not suit them well.

kikizoo4782d ago

yeah right, go back to your big controler, you obvioussy don't know what you are talking about...

buckley4781d ago

Metascores of 86 for Resistance: Fall of Man and 87 for Resistance 2 disagree with you. Apparently the vast majority of the industry agrees that Insomniac makes some of the highest-quality FPS games available.

hazeblaze4782d ago

Yea, the map looks phenomenal! Multiplayer was the only part I enjoyed of R2 actually. R3 seems to be improving in virtually every area.... I have a feeling I'm going to like it even more than Resistance 1, which was an instant classic!

mushroomwig4782d ago

Even though it's not a direct feed, I'm still impressed with the visuals!

Tommykrem4782d ago

Wow, didn't expect to be that impressed! Resistance 2 online didn't look too bad, but this looks great!

hazeblaze4782d ago

No, R2 multiplayer was pretty great... the single player sucked though.

Tommykrem4781d ago

Oh, yeah sorry. I mean "look" great as in graphics great. The multi-player in R2 was excellent, maybe not so much competetive as co-operative. I thought Singleplayer was great!

DelbertGrady4782d ago (Edited 4782d ago )

"Resistance 3 Multiplayer 1080p Footage Does The PS3 Justice"

*watches blurry lo-res off-screen footage*

Say what?

@juggulator - Not saying the game doesn't look good but the video is crappy.

juggulator4782d ago

I don't know about you, but I watched it in 1080p and it looked amazing.

NiKK_4194782d ago

yea, they just had to put a fancy shmancy title on it, it could be worse, i just ignore the titles on here with their outlandish claims

specialguest4782d ago

There's nothing amazing about this video. It's captured in 1080p res., but it's off-screen. I want to see direct feed videos in HD, then maybe the term "amazing" could be properly applied.

ksoto4782d ago

This game is going to look awesome in my opinion based off the mp videos ive seen and those werent even of the sp. I/ was a fan of R2 mp but the game looked ok but defenitely not a graphical powerhouse this on the other hand looks like it will look insane. R2 mp was hectic with so many players and i loved the mayhemmmmmmm hoping they add as many players to mp but i doubt it.

Adding First-Party Games to PS Plus Negatively Impacts Sales, Sony Data Confirms

In a leaked Sony Interactive Entertainment presentation, the company declares that including first-party games on PS Plus has had a “big” effect on “traditional sales.” As an example, the company mentioned that Horizon Forbidden West‘s sales “flat-lined” immediately after being added to PS Plus.

That's smart Sony knows what's up with that.

Reaper22_130d ago

They are just stating the obvious. Of course a game is not gonna sell as much when gamers can get it for a fraction of the cost because of subscription service. On the other hand, a subscription service can extend the life of a game by making it available to gamers who want to play it but not necessarily willing to pay full price.

What works for Microsoft doesn't necessarily have to work for Sony and vice-versa. I'm glad we have some variety. Personally, I don't want 2 consoles who are doing the exact same thing.

Crows90130d ago

Price cuts do the same thing your describing. Subscriptions aren't bringing anything new to the table.

Crows90130d ago

It's not that smart. In fact...it's not smart at all. A dumbass could figure that out. If you give a game for free or for peanuts...why would anyone pay a lot for it instead?

It's like if you had the whopper menu at 7.99 and then the whopper menu at 1.99
Same damn whopper! What item you think most will choose?

The only ones that will choose 7.99 option are those oblivious to the 1.99 option.

Hedstrom130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

Yea! And to make more money if you are selling the 1.99 whooper you will have to lower the quality and make the ingredients as cheap as possible and take away the sallad and cheese. But you could pay extra to get that.

proudly_X131d ago

Clank was profitable after all

DarkZane131d ago

Would have been a lot worst if it was on PS Plus day one.

FIELDMARSHALL_P130d ago

How much does Sony or Xbox pay the devolpers to put the games on the services? Do they take that into account for profit, I don't know just asking. If we pay for online giving out some games is cool either platform. The companies must think it helps in some sort of capacity for accepting the deal I would think.

purple101131d ago

Oh dam
I even commented on someone who said it wasn’t.

Load of hallabaloo on the site indeed

REDGUM131d ago

To add to you're point, this is what I don't understand about the MS subscription service. If you're getting all the day one released games for next to nothing by using thier service how on earth are the developers supposed to make enough money back to create their next game/s?
Myself, and I might be of the few, but I prefer to purchase a game from a store or digital store at the recommended price, or wait for a discount if not completely sold on what I've seen of a game so far and get what I paid for than pay monthly, yearly etc subscription & get everything while the games themselves become less in all aspects due to less funds/resources. (Not sure if I've explained that properly or not)
If every company goes down the subscription based path in the future I see gaming overall dying to some degree for the non diehards I mean. Putting up older games etc that are inc in the service fees I agree with but not day one releases. Again, just an opinion.

Hedstrom130d ago

@REDGUM
You lower the quality of the games to make the process of making them as cheap as possible. You make them like f2p games with season passes and microtransactions. And over time you will make subscription more and more expensive.

BlackCountryBob131d ago

Also really interesting to see through to one of the sites they link to (Resetera) that the 2 cross gen titles in Miles Morales and Ghosts of Tsushima sold over 40% each of their first year in year 2, almost double what even the best performing games like GOW 2018 and Spider-Man did. Kinda seeing the cold hard numbers makes it really clear why they did cross gen games and remastered some of the later PS4 games to PS5 Directors Cuts.

Glemt131d ago

"“In year 1, Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West were very comparable,” the presentation reads. “HFW was included into PS Plus at the start of Year 2. HFW saw an enormous influx of PS Plus players, but at the cost of flat-lining the game activations from retail sales.”"

So, the data shows there were fewer traditional sales, but it doesn't show us anything about how many people joined PS+? It does say there was an influx of HFW players, but it doesn't state how many of these players owned PS+ to begin with.

To conclude that it negatively sales is correct, but it doesn't mean less money is made. We cannot draw that conclusion until we know how many more people joined PS+ because of HFW.

mkis007131d ago

Well each ps plus account is only good for what? $15 per month max if they go monthly? There are a lot of reasons why even if a million new signups happened loosing out on the $60 gamesales is a worse.

Glemt131d ago

I think that's a good assumption, but that's what I was referring to. It's an assumption. If someone comes with hard data, we need the complete picture. The way it sits now we might draw the right conclusions, but we've proven nothing.

Crows90130d ago

If sales flat lines and subscriptions don't equal the same as said purchasable game then no matter how you spin it...less money is made on that game per player

TheCaptainKuchiki131d ago

MS's bet is that although it lowers traditional sales, it makes the services more appealing and millions of new people will subscribe if they see that good games are added to the service. And in the end, the subscription profit (not revenue) will outpace that of the traditional sales.

However even after 6 years they still haven't reached that point lmao

Shane Kim131d ago

Sadly it's just Netflix of gaming. They saturate the service with garbage just to keep releases on a regular basis and to keep players hooked to the service. It won't be sustainable in the long run.

Reaper22_130d ago

There are some really good games on gamepass. That's the problem with you guys who only think one way. I'm playing Remnant 2, Dead space remake, Tomb Raider, Forza, Far cry 5, Gears Judgement, Mass Effect 3 and MLB The Show. Now please tell me which one of those are garbage?
You sound like a hater or is it you are jealous at the success of Mictosoft with gamepass.

Crows90130d ago

@reaper

Far cry 5 and mass effect 3...also gears judgment was horrible

DEEHULK88127d ago

Netflix is the ONLY streaming service that is making a profit right now. In fact others are back to licensing their content to Netflix because that's a great revenue stream for them.

Crows90130d ago

Except that works for MS because most of their games barely break 1 million in sales ... They know this and try to throw shade and brag about how great subscriptions are because they were already not making much money at all.

Reaper22_130d ago

Nah, that's not true. Their games do sell. Games are getting more expensive to make and sometimes selling millions still don't make up for losses. Services like gamepass can be good for developers and the publishers. Games do sell on gamepass.

Crows90130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

@reaper

Nope. It is true. Just look at estimated sales for lots of their games across the board. Except for major titles like GTA most games barely sell on Xbox. At least back when physical was the majority...now with mostly digital maybe it has changed but their audience hasn't gotten bigger.

A few outliers but the majority barely sold.

DEEHULK88127d ago

If they didn't put their games on PC and Gamepass day 1 their games would be on the charts like the 360 days, but they don't want to do that and that's okay.
