Insomniac Is Using Internet Providers To Issue DMCA Notices

Insider Gaming writes: "It shouldn’t need to be said but don’t download and play the early build of Wolverine that’s now out in the wild.

If you do, you’re in direct violation of copyright law, and as recent posts on social media platforms have shown, you’re very easily tracked."

Too late insomniac tbh once on the internet it's there forever.

blackblades145d ago

No its not, its for the ones that downloaded the game. They are being tracked and to stop others from downloading it. Its illegal to download something that was stolen in a hack

Vits145d ago

Yeah, good luck with that on a global jurisdiction with VPN and P2P clients.

BeHunted145d ago

It's impossible to track VPN users. Majority of those that downloaded the game uses VPN.

XiNatsuDragnel144d ago

VPN + Private trackers + P2P clients = gg no re plus it's more than one person downloading this.

blackblades144d ago (Edited 144d ago )

Y'all said its to late but yet they getting dmca and something about it being linked to there server but whatever

XiNatsuDragnel143d ago

@blackblades

It Is bro golden rule once on the internet always on the internet and if someone downloads a game that's entirely too late because it's not like windows is able to remove programs via remote methods so brother too late.

Rocketisleague143d ago

It's not too late for the ones that didn't use a vpn. Don't assume all pirates use any of these. Insomniac are in full damage control mode now

Bobertt143d ago

Only the beginners who don't use a VPN when torrenting have a chance of being tracked. All these companies do is find the torrent then have someone log the public IP address of people who join the torrent. Then they send them to ISPs and ask them to send a DMCA notice to that IP address. Also often after a certain amount of time has passed they stop caring and logging the IP addresses because it's wasting money. Most ISPs will give you 3 chances as well before they cut off your internet too so most of these people should be fine and hopefully wisen up and get a VPN.

That's pretty much the world these days especially the govt spying on our phones is criminal buddy.

Export143d ago

Not In canada , you cant share it but if its on my private IP server. Its fair gain !

Christopher144d ago

I might be a bit too late, but they still have to go through the motions otherwise they lose later stances on upholding their rights to the IP as it relates to the hacked material.

Eonjay144d ago

Had to read that a few times but I got it. Makes sense.

Christopher142d ago

Sorry, first word should have been 'it'. But, yeah, later cases could be thrown out of they don't show a history of defending their IP at all stages.

mkis007144d ago

It's not like the leaked stuff is any fun from what i saw, it's just a very early vertical slice of rudimentary gameplay... The good stuff comes later in development. I don't understand the value to anyone but Insomniac.

Amplitude143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

Honestly, as much as I hate the context of the leak and how it happened, I am absolutely interested in unreleased builds of games. I love when these things leak or are posted by developers after the game's been out for a while or if it's canceled. Its really cool to see how a game evolves over it's time in the oven and I'll surely be playing the leaked build after I beat the game.

In my perfect little make believe world, developers would have a Patreon where they'd upload in-progress builds to the public and nobody would use it to judge the quality of the later final game. It shouldn't be as big of a deal as it is

Amplitude143d ago

I mean, anybody downloading this is doing it from Tor from the darkweb and through a VPN so good luck

Hypercharge Unboxed Dev Saddened By Claims It'll Be 'Dead' Without Xbox Game Pass

One of the big Xbox releases heading our way in May 2024 is the long-awaited Hypercharge Unboxed, which is finally bringing its "first and third-person shooter action figure game" to Xbox consoles on Friday, May 31st.

Sadly, ahead of launch, the game's official Twitter (or "X") account has been highlighting the "trolls" who are claiming that because it's not launching on Game Pass, Hypercharge Unboxed is already set up for failure on Xbox.

helicoptergirl10h ago

It's horrible what people will say, but the truth might be harsh. There is a good chance it might not do well on Xbox if it's not on GamePass. There is a strong possibility that is the case. We'll see.

When it launches on Playstation in the future you can rest assured it will sell much better. The devs have confirmed it's coming to Playstation in the future.

"It is built in the Unreal Engine 4. The game was released on the Nintendo eShop on January 31, 2020 and on Steam on April 27, 2020. The development of Hypercharge: Unboxed for the Xbox platform was officially announced on July 16, 2022, with the developers also confirming future support for the PlayStation."

ZeekQuattro9h ago

I remember having this on my radar years ago for the Switch but never pulled the trigger on it. Crazy it's still not on PlayStation yet.

northpaws49m ago

And that's the problem of GamePass.

JEECE16m ago

Unfortunately once people are conditioned to expect to get something as part of a subscription they already pay for, they are unlikely to buy it a la carte. Some games, including this one, now look like "Gamepass Games" to a huge chunk of the Xbox audience. Maybe this game will buck that trend, and I wish them luck, but I'd imagine they'll have a rough go trying to sell this game on Xbox.

Epic Games Faces $1.2 Million Fine Over "Unfair Practices," Plans to Fight Back

Epic Games is facing a $1.2 million fine by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets over "unfair practices" in the Fortnite shop.

Sciurus_vulgaris17h ago

It might be cheaper to simply pay the fine. Fighting said fine could cost millions due to court and lawyer fees. Fortnite generates well over a 100 million in each month, so Epic has plenty of cash.

franwex9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

But if they did pay it, then they are basically admitting that they did something they weren’t supposed to be doing. If they fight it, they may win and continue to have a sense of urgency for their micro transactions thus making more money long term.

Goodguy011h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Meaning more suits to follow from others if they don't fight as well.

Not a fan of Epic nor fortnite and their micro transactions. But the game is heavily supported and is free to play, all store items are completely cosmetic.

Furesis4h ago

I'd fight back too. These are kinda meaningless reasons to fine someone like really for THAT. It's like they just wanted to make money or something.

Too bad for the best fps there is atm...

Sgt_Slaughter15h ago

The market for games like this is too over saturated to make a dent in other established games' player counts. Trying to start all over with a whole new multiplayer meta and grinding to get better is not feasible when there's already a ton of similar games that have come out before it.
