Nearly three-quarters of UK opening-weekend Homefront sales were made on Xbox 360.

A titanic 70 per cent of copies were sold for Xbox 360, leaving 26 per cent for PS3 and four per cent for PC, according to Chart-Track (a company that doesn't include sales for digital services like Steam).

I think you need to look at total sales for the UK this year, not just one game.

If there's 4 really good games for 1 system and 1 for another then when a new multi-plat comes out you'd expect it to have bigger sales on the system with less games for the year.

Well it's partially to do with KZ3. Because of games like it, PS3 owners don't fall for 'shooter bait' so easily. Plus the single player is short and underwhelming and the mulitplayer is decent. I only own a PS3 and I'm willing to bet that like me, most PS3 owners are avoiding it because of the poor single player campaign.

You hit the nail on the head my friend. Mass Effect 2 just came out for us PS3 users, Killzone 3 also just came out and for a good portion of people I am sure, SOCOM 4 beta starts next week and it comes out next month. We have a lot to play already so this article isn't to shocking.

I'm not stating that one console is better than the other here, I am merely saying that the PS3 just had 3 big games come out in the last two months or us and I'm sure some people are waiting for Crysis 2 and SOCOM 4 as well. So this explains the gap between consoles on sales.

We've been over this before, haven't we? In the UK there are roughly 6 million 360's to 4 million PS3's. If a game is selling equally well on each system we should see the sales split roughly 60-40, and that's basically what we're seeing here, not withstanding that I don't actually know how accurate Chart-Track is in the UK.

Of course the 360 version sold more in the UK. The 360 has a larger base in the UK. This is no more newsworthy or troubling than pointing out that more PS3 games are sold in Japan. I don't know why Eurogamer is always trying to make a story out of this.

Also, these types of games tend to do better on the 360. Just look at Mercenaries 2. Similar review scores as Homefront and 360 fans ate it up while PS3 fans largely ignored the title. Meanwhile games like FIFA do much better on the PS3. It also depends on what genre we're talking about, and what the competition looks like. I really can't see many shooter fans picking up Homefront when KZ3 was just released, for example.

Homefront is terrible compared to other FPS games in Sony's lineup. It was painful to finish the campaign. The MP is the best part of the game, I suggest skipping straight to that and play the SP when you have absolutely nothing else to do or play. And since 360 fans have no new exclusives to play right now, any FPS is surely welcomed there.

Games like Homefront just reinforce the idea that games like Killzone3 are of stellar quality. Homefront is just an inferior product plain and simple.

Instead of being fanboys, try and look at this logically. It is a fact that the majority of 'casual' gamers on both Xbox and PS3 mostly play shooters. Coupled with the fact that all the advertising for Homefront, in the UK at least, was on Xbox 360, the game became well known to many of the 'casuals' on 360, and only those more informed about the game industry would know it was also coming to PS3.
Also those who have the choice will mostly have chosen the 360 version for the extra content; most of those who bought it on PS3 were most likely very sure they were going to buy it for quite a while. Hence the larger number of sales for the Xbox 360 version.

I played Homefront for my PS3 the campaign was too short it was not a bad game it had a unique twist of bring the war to the USA wich is a neat idea. But I am not into that team deathmatch stuff for the online game play I perfer a good free for all which COD has. Homefront had that I might have kept my game a little longer plus the game could have used a campaign co-op. If your hardcore into team deathmatch and sick of COD then Homefront is a decent game.

Homefront was marketed heavily on the XBox 360, Microsoft really did a good job with the bundles, ad's on the dashboard and general information and previews about the game on XBL.

If they do a sequel, continue the story, up the graphics to current standards, and add a few more multiplayer modes or options, then they could have a good franchise on their hands. Both consoles have good games, but the exclusive games for Ps3 does not sale like the exclusives on 360. Graphics wise the Ps3 shines on all exclusives, but the 360 shines on all there exclusives too. The sales of exclusives on the 360 just the games up top 43.43m to Ps3 up top 23m.
Just by the sales given and if you want to go by the average gamer the 360 have a deeper fan base. The 360 followers love gaming has to. And for Ps3 gamers not so much 43 million versus 23 million are a lot of games sold. By looking at home front you should understand why the 360 sold more than the Ps3. I'm just being a little curious, can you tell me where you pull off those numbers from? Is it from direct source or estimated numbers generated by vgcrap? Or you simply just pull it out from your arse?

I know that you are not a fanboy, but your statistic is WAY WAY off the mark. You just listed about 85% of all Xbox360 exclusives to the much more variety exclusive from the PS3. If you average out both console sales altogether, you will definitely find that the PS3 sold more software altogether. Sure people say multiplatform sold more on the Xbox360, but we all know that is FALSE! Unless the game has something to do with shooter, most likely it would sell more on the PS3. Check out EA games, most of them sold more on the PS3. Check out Japanese studios, about 99.9% of the whole library sold more on the PS3..

So how is it anyone can just use a few games as an example that the Xbox360 is moving more multiplats is beyond me. Especially with crappy games like Homefront and Bulletstorm? Rather than proving the Xbox360 IS moving games. More like to prove that the Xbox360 gamers are willing to buy in any shit this days.

Well the 360 don't have any games right now so of course it would have more sales on 360. KZ3 came out last month and Socom 4 coming next so that's why the sales are low for PS3.

Xbox 360 is being nicknamed as ShooterBox 360, this shows it right thru ehhhyy! :P 360 players have no exclusives as of date this year (XBLA dosen't count or DLC) so they must buy multiplatt.

Good for me I have not that problem with few or zero exclusives since I have 3 consoles and a PC this gen!
