So it, $399 PS3 bundle with Spiderman is Sony's big announcement. Makes sense and has more than enough backing the idea up.

since in stock date would be the 28th would make sense for the street date to be a couple days later?

Violater6069d ago

Company info is no longer secure.
People need to start getting sued in order for info to stop bleeding out.
It may seem like good news to us, but for investors and companies leaked information like this has a financial impact.

Anyhoo $399 PS3 for Chrismas anyone???

Maddens Raiders6069d ago

does this have to do with the "big bang"?

Razzy6069d ago

I agree Violater. All this leaked info is going to lead to no one buying a PS3 untill the end of October. Sony needs to plug up all of these leaks.

eXplotion6069d ago

it is still a big bang announcement for a lot of people. Most people dont hang on N4G and dont know that a 40GB model is on the works, imagine their surprise when they discover it comes with Spiderman 3 included!

My major concern is what will be sacrificed in order to meet the $399 price tag. We already know it has "better" wi-fi so its still there. Im afraid that if its downgraded too much people may not buy it, though if it has new 65nm chips and card readers are removed it may be enough to make it cheaper and no more features might get disabled.

this is a good move by Sony, there are good number of great games out now and a lot more coming this and next month, if it hits the streets this month it would be good. It will give holiday shoppers enough time to hear about it and add it to their list.

lawman11086069d ago

They should have put Fall of man or Warhawk (the ONLY good games) with that and plug it like crazy.

Devr6069d ago

I'm buying this. Although I hope they'll have another bundle that comes with a game instead of a movie. That rumored Ratchet and Clank bundle perhaps? But I can definitely see where Sony's coming from here. Spiderman 3 is going to sell a ton, and is sure to help the Ps3 some.

PirateThom6069d ago (Edited 6069d ago )

mis-post.

THC CELL6069d ago

cant be that announcement.

not really a big bang is it

nanometric6069d ago (Edited 6069d ago )

Well, you do need to hype things and sony is good at it!

EDIT: @below Sorry, I couldn't know it, because there never are any ads at all for ps3, 360 or even teh wii where I live. But as far as I can read from the net, I'd say they can hype, ofcourse nothing beats halo 3 hype.

crck6069d ago

like me($565 actually). But Sony doesn't really seem to care about those people. But I can see it swaying others to buy it. I mean a $200 drop in less then a year (sure you lose 20 gigs but you can replace it anytime) plus a free movie plus 5 more free movies via mail in rebate is a good deal.

Rama262856069d ago

Sony are useless at hyping anything. There biggest game out so far (Heavenly Sword) has had little to no advertising, Warhawk gets no publicity and I bet if you asked 10 people on the street they wouldn't even know it's multiplayer only. Not to mention, when was the last advert for the actual PS3??

PirateThom6069d ago

Can you blame them?

The last game they hyped was Lair, and we all know what that turned out like.

feejo6069d ago (Edited 6069d ago )

Most people don't know a 40Gb is comming, it was so far a rumor, so it is a big announcement. What did you expect: NASA is using a PS3 to run a ship to space, and launch a NASA bundle? It could come back in one piece. I would not try that with a Xbox.

im still not entirely convinced sony will win holiday season. no one will win against wii but they will do very well, it will keep them in it LEADING UP TO 2008. unreal with mods will get some people, and rachet will get some people. although uncharted will most likely be tripple AAA, it wont get to many because its a new ip. but i also dont think mass effect for 360 will get alot of people. they will get a certain fanbase but thats it, because those type of games dont normally get to the casual gamer. (weather it gets good reviews or not, the freakin gameplay IS TALKING) LOL but anyway, this will defenitely get the ps3 rollin. and if anybody dissagrees, TELL ME WHY BECAUSE I KNOW ALOT OF YOU CANT DO THAT VERY WELL.

WELL IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THAT IS KINDVE A BIG BANG FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE PS3'S THAT WERENT SUPPOSED TO HEAR ABOUT THIS. THINK, THE PS3 AND 360 AT THE SAME PRICE, AND SOME PARENT WALKS IN THE STORE AND SEES THEM BOTH AROUND THE SAME PRICE, WILL PROBABLY GO WITH THE PS3 BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE PLAYSTATION BRAND, (I BET THERE KID HAS HAD A PS2)

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow4d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1824d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie3d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere3d ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney2d ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno4d ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno4d ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

3d ago
fsfsxii3d ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno3d ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
