Fight Night Champion - Review (PlanetXbox360)

If you’ve played the Fight Night Champion demo, you have an idea about the new control scheme, which is called Full Spectrum Punch Control (FSPC). This is a total revamp from years past of Total Punch Control that had been used in the previous Fight Night games. FSPC utilizes simple flicks of the right analog stick to throw left and right punches high and low to bring the pain to your opponent. The best way to describe it is to think of it as a clock face when throwing punches. Flicks to the left and right either side of 12 o’clock work your jabs, 3 and 9 o’clock are for your right and left hooks, and either side of 6 o’clock is for the uppercuts. Flicking the stick in between any of these positions will cause your boxer to throw a variation of whatever punch you where intending such as an uppercut with a more out and up angle.

Fight Night Round 5: We Want A New Fight Night Game

It’s been almost a decade since the critically acclaimed Fight Night Champion, the final title in a series of beloved boxing video games from Electronic Arts. Since 2011, the studio has been focused on its mixed martial arts title, UFC, instead. But with the rise of the popularity of boxing again, thanks to fighters like Floyd Mayweather and Tyson Fury, could we possibly have another Fight Night game on the way?

They need to go back to the good roots of FN R2 and FN R3. Everything after watered down the formula too much and enabled gimmicks. FNR2&3 are some of the greatest fighting games ever.

3 was fun and you could smash out so many haymakers. But I found 4 more technical and enjoyed it for that too.

At least in 3 you had to wind up your shots, it was more skill based as opposed to 4 where you just held down L1 or R1 whilst flicking the analogue stick.

navi87489d ago

Agreed, i played FNR 3 the most on Xbox 360 back in the day and using the analogue sticks to kinda mimic punches thrown was fun af. FNR 4 ruined it by just flicking the analogue stick to throw hooks, felt really unintuitive after the previous games.

They'd ruin it like they do everything these days

In the words of the great Stone Cold Steve Austin Ooooh Hell Yeeeeah!!! lol. Also it would be sweet if EA gave us a new Def Jam Fighting game with a roster of Rappers that's unheard of. Biggie.Pun.Pac.Jam Master Jay.Eminem.JayZ.Eazy E.MGK.Naz. and over 60 of the best rappers ever past and present. One can only hope.
