Who cares if some one released some tech demo on some PC NOBODY owns. There are hundreds of tech demo's out there. Crytek better step up on consoles or they should just go away. They keep showing Crysis 2 on some ridiculous PC and act like the console version will look the same. If Crysis 2 tanks, they will never live it down.

Most tech engines or the popular ones all bring the same tech to the table, give or take a few things. What matters most and what people seem to unknowingly bicker about, is a games particular art style. You can't be mad at people who think a cathedral looks only "ok". Earlier this gen, people probably would've said, "No way games can look like that.", but as time has obviously passed, you can see this type of stuff in most games released these days. Its the art direction that sets games apart from one another. I've gotten to the point where human character animations and models don't really impress me that much, except for 1 or 2 games. What really gets me excited is the creature designs. I want to look at a game with fantasy type creatures or aliens whose animations are believable, just as detailed as the human characters look. Not to diss Crysis, but the creature designs, especially the Pingers, look like Metroid Prime space pirates. Its like they don't fit into the photo-realism that Crysis knocks out of the park.

alot of game developers should make a daytime and night time map or have the map start out as day and end in night, because all these lighting demonstration are useless if they just ship out the game with all maps being one certain day effect

Agreed Istanbull , especially for a tech demo - it's underwhelming. Crysis 2 on PC looks way better than that. Maybe people aren't viewing it in 'full screen' mode.

Or maybe they were told it "Kicks Ass!" and all independent thought and critical thinking skills vanished.

For instance, take games like Kane & Lynch 2, Damnation, Legendary; all developed from UE3, yet there are some games that utilizes earlier 2.5 builds like Bioshock and make it beautiful.

But alot of game designers tend to lean towards artstyle instead of reality.

Because in terms of PC graphics it's nothing special. I'm assuming Gypsygib was hoping games would look better than this on CryEngine3 PC, though in fairness to Crytek not all tech demos use the engine's whole power so it's not fair complaining that this is all we're getting out of PC. It's down to the developer.

I watched this in 720p on my 37inch HDTV and its very good but not like real life. I have played Crysis 1 on the same TV at 720p and thats just as good.
Uncharted 2 wasn't too far off as good as this.

Looks good, but it's pretty basic. Be interesting to see how this engine will play out. When they start adding in all the different visual effects the true test will begin.
