probably a new story for new mgs

George Sears4872d ago

"So I ask you, who do you think the great Hideo Kojima is referring to?"

Hopefully, yours truly. The one that is neither Solid nor Liquid but a perfect combination blended with epic awesomeness.

VenomProject4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Solidus is (was) a wussy. >_>

captain-obvious4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

*EDIT*
nvm
though you said solid lol

George Sears4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Solidus a wussy? A man who denied his purpose of creation in order to free mankind from constant oppression from something that nobody understood at the time? A man who risked his own life, his presidency in pursue of his own goals?

A man who single handily destroyed multiple Metal Gear Rays with his Democracy and Republic blades a long with his P90? Something that takes Solid and Raiden multiple Stinger missiles and running like a pansy to avoid being pummeled.

You clearly have no idea who Solidus Snake is (was) nor do you see how much of an iconic character he is (was) towards the MGS Saga. If only Kojima would had explained his background more, then would people understand his true purpose and goals.

But it's poetic justice really. A man that in the end his sole intentions of his actions was to just be remembered, to carry on his MEME since he couldn't bare children; not wanted to be enslaved by machines is all but forgotten by not only people that played the game, but the series in general.

Hell, even Big Boss' face camo in MGS4 is none other than Solidus Snake. A testament towards the distance they set on him when it comes towards the story.

Just thinking about it just now, I really believe that Kojima could make Metal Gear Raiden just as great as the rest of the series if he brings that Solidus/Raiden flare that we had in MGS2.

The thing was that Kojima really out did himself when it came to The Boss' and Naked Snake's relationship. Thanks to MGS3's importance in storytelling and character background, it really helped propel The Boss to become such an iconic character. Something that he didn't quite do well in MGS2 with Solidus and Raiden's past relationship.

VenomProject4872d ago

Calm down, Mr. Sears.

I know exactly who Solidus is and I know all about what he's done. You'd be hard-pressed to find more individuals who have studied the Metal Gear universe as much as I.

I simply never liked him as a character is all. :)

unknownhero11234872d ago

If you think about it, solidus's fate was terrible. I won't spoil it for those who haven't played mgs4 but to those who did, you know what I'm talking about.

Solidus was great. I'll never forget the very end of MGS, the phone call with Ocelot and Solidus, just amazing. Then Sons of Liberty was also very amazing, I don't give a SHIT what people say about Raiden. A true fan of MGS will accept the game for what it is, and realize it is still an amazing game. Back on topic here XD. This can be ANYONE though if you think about it. He just says "a character". So think of all the dead characters in every game, and the list is massive. What I'm most curious about is if this means he is making a new game, or this regards Rising. I so hope its the former!

George Sears4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

The thing is that Gray Fox in general wouldn't really work for Rising (if this is what Kojima is talking about). Raiden never knew who Gray Fox truly was. Sure, he did experience the ninja back in the Big Shell but it wasn't Frank in the suit.

Besides, Solidus killed Olga and she really wasn't that much of an important nor memorable character to begin with.

ComboBreaker4871d ago

The parallel between Gray Fox and Raiden is just too good.

I’d have taken a few of those out. Prefer Sonic over Sonic 2. Outrun should be in there. Maybe even Pong as millions of people had fun with that even if it was repetitive. Final Fight pipped any Streets of Rage game, although Streets of Rage had the better soundtrack. Too many to list l guess. To me, retro gaming is the 1980s, maybe going into early 1990s.

Agree that the generational gap is too broad to really make a strong list. Need to tighten the years a bit. Hard to compare Pac Man with N64 games.
